My Beats earbuds are also having an issue with the mic, so maybe not just a Bose issue? I can hear music fine, control volume, pause, etc. However, no one can hear me when I talk into the Beats microphone now that I am connected via the lightning adaptor. Tried them again on old phone without lightning, worked fine. Also tried my wife's Beats on her iPhone 7, same issue. So I've ruled out my earbuds, my adaptor, and my phone - seems to be ANY adaptor will not let ANY Beats microphone work. Can this be fixed

My hunch is this is related to the 3.5mm adapter. I had the same issues on many calls where they complained they couldn't hear me and was blaming AT&T for months. On a whim I did a mic test (using the voice memo app) with the regular 7Plus handset mic and then again using Bose Soundsports inline mic connected to lightning / 3.5mm adapter. I will say I noticed a big difference.

The regular 7Plus mic, sound was loud and clear. Using the Bose headset with lightning adapter, sound was very muffled and distant. If I use the Bose headset direct on a 6S, same test, sound is clear and fine. If I use the Bose headset direct on a Pixel. Clear sound. The issue seems to come when using the Lightning <> 3.5mm adapter.

I have used every iPhone since the beginning and my use case is always a phone #1 and 90% of time with headset plugged in. I am all for "courage" but not when it's a clear degradation of functionality.

Hi

Other users have reported experiencing the same issue.

It may help, at least temporarily, to unplug and reconnect the headphones from / to the adapter.

One user indicates that Apple may be working on rectifying a software bug.

I suggest that you let Apple know that you also are experiencing this problem:
