Why can't I reply to messages from my lock and home screen?

I have the iPhone 6+ and I recently updated it to IOS 10 and just found out that I can't reply to messages from my lock screen or when they appear at the top of my home screen; I have to go into the app to reply. The only available options that I have when I swipe right in the Lock screen is "view" (which just magnifies the text) or "clear", I've found this quite irritating and regret updating my phone. In the Home screen when I pull down on the text it just magnifies it and that's it, the keyboard doesn't pop up. Please help...

I have 6s and i already set the reply with a message to green but still i cant reply to my messages when its unlock how's that possible?

My iPhone seven does this too. Reply when locked is on but it still only lets me clear when I swipe a message.

I have an iPhone 7 + and you just have to hold down for 1 or 2 seconds and the message enlarges and the reply box shows up underneath.

Yes indeed it helps. Just by press and hold to the messages for a Sec and the reply box appears. Thanks for the tips.

I have the same thing and holding it doesn't work either.... did u figure anything else out?
