how do i turn off voice mail transcribing?

For whatever reason it is not working on my 6, and it won't simply play back the messages either. Since I 'upgraded' I have not been able to listen to any voicemail and it has yet to actually transcribe a single bloody voicemail- it just sits there trying and running my **** battery down.

Wait – where is this "1 "that we can press? I don't see it. And how do you send a voicemail to yourself? I would love to use this hack, if someone could explain it to me! Thanks in advance. This is extremely frustrating. I can't share the message, the information icon/button doesn't lead to anything useful, I can't press the greyed out Play triangle, because it's, well, greyed out. .All I see is "transcription not available."

This is a new iPhone (7) and it's been doing some other really frustrating and annoying things that my prior phone (6) didn't do.

Thanks for the reminder about pressing '1' -- but it's OUTRAGEOUS that my messages don't play when I go into

Voicemail and hit the play triangle. I can see the transcription -- usually wrong enough that i need to actually hear the message -- but then I can't get it to play. This is basic functionality. And if it works when you press 1, how about cutting and pasting the same routine to the Voicemail play button?

The ability to transcribe visual voicemail is still in beta. There is no setting to turn if off or on. As far as playing your voicemail, it should still play voicemail by tapping on the play button, the small right facing triangle at the beginning of the scrubber bar. If that is not happening, you may need to reset your phone. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone will reboot. After that, the phone will reboot. Test. If it still will not play, you may need to have your carrier reset your voicemail.

I'm also interested in turning this feature off because it is causing issues with the listening of voice mails.

I have to tap on a voice message 3 times before it will even start playing. Each time I tap on the message, the screen collapses the message and won't play.

Very frustrating.

PS - Why is Apple beta testing this feature in a Public release. Isn't that what the beta program is for?

When Siri was first released, it was in a production release of iOS, and it was in beta as well. I'm not sure what the issue is with your VVM, but I do not have to do anything different to access my messages. It works the same as it always did. Open VVM, tap the message, Play.

As far as why Apple is doing that, we wouldn't know, since we are users just like you, and speculation about what Apple does or doesn't do is prohibited by the TOS of the forum.

I'm sorry for your confusion, since this is hosted by Apple, but does not have Apple participation, except for moderation. Since you have made another statement, how has it made it difficult for you to retrieve your voicemail. I find it quite helpful. Visual Voicemail made it easy to prioritize what voicemail to look at, this makes it even easier to determine when and if to listen to it, since I can look at the content without having to listen to the voicemail itself.

Apple is transcribing our personal voicemail messages. There is no way to disable it. Do you not see the privacy implications Apple is forcing on all iPhone users under a "beta" flag w/ no notification? Convenience is one thing, forcing convenience while compromising security is another.
