CarPlay problems after iOS 10 Update

Ever since iOS 10 my CarPlay functions have been very glitchy, mostly when I got navigation going on at the same time. Here's a few things I encounter:

  • Music freezes (can't change songs, can't tap into the app if I tap out of it, icon zooms in once it gets past freezing)
  • Siri mutes herself when reading texts (only seems to happen when I listen to a text straight from a notification
  • CarPlay itself randomly disconnects for a couple seconds at a time (although it MAY be my wire but it has yet to show any tears)

Also some other pet peeves from BEFORE iOS 10 that are still happening now with Music:

Some radio station genres found in Apple Music on iPhone/iPad/Mac are not listed in CarPlay

Anyone else w/ CarPlay suffering from these problems?

No solution. Pandora just says loading and then times out. Soft reset, hard reset, re-install iOS 10. Still no good. It has to be with the CarPlay function within iOS 10. Because if i play Pandora straight off the iPhone to an earpiece ( iPhone 6) no problemo. Will wait for the update rather than try to re-install iOS 9.3 (which worked fine) btw, my mistake no backup.

Same issue. ive been using carplay with the same pioneer head unit (avh-4000 nex) with no issues even using the iOS 10 beta. It wasn't until the official release build, my iPhone 7, or both until the issues started. I'll connect fine and choose a song to play and then after that I can't play/pause, change track or do anything except change menus. My phone will be a brick for about 1-2 mins even after disconnecting the lightning cable. It takes a while for the blue bar to disappear from the top and then full use of the phone will be restored. something in iOS 10 is really adversely affecting the CarPlay experience.

Having similar issue with iPhone 5 SE and 2016 Honda Civic. Worked fine under iOS 9.x, now, the audio seems to drop out often. First noticed on 3 separate phone calls, the caller would go silent for 5+ seconds, then come back. Today I noticed same issue with music streaming off of phone. It dropped out for several seconds, 5 times in a 15 minute drive. Tested the same music source at home, straight off the phone, played without a glitch for over 20 minutes.

So, now, who do you talk to? Apple or Honda, or are both going to simply point to the other?

Very frustrating......

I have similar issues. Honda Accord 2016 IOS 10.0.2 Iphone 6 Plus

1. Playlist not in same order as phone within CarPlay display is big issue. I don't want them in alphabetical order. I want to hear them in order I prefer. Baffles me this isn't tested prior to release.

2. Anytime I touch phone screen I can't adjust Apple Music volume From wheel Or deck. It tries to change phone audio volume in car play not music volume. I have to unplug phone and plug back in to adjust volume. Really annoying!

3. Disconnects frequently. No device connected...but it was just playing a song??

I have a new Volvo XC90 MY2017 with CarPlay.

I got the car after I upgraded my iPhone 6 to iOS10.0.2 and I have never been able to get it working. It keeps saying my phone is setup as an iPod. I click the Carplay icon and it tells me to disconnect the cable and reconnect, but still it will not recognize it. If I play music from the iPhone via the cable it works fine, so I'm sure it is not related to the cable or the lightning slot.

While if I try with my wife's iPhone 5 on iOS 9.3 it works fine, I connect by cable and immediately it recognizes the phone as Carplay, brings up the popup where I need to accept the T&C's and loads the CarPlay icons in the mid console without any problem.

So looks to me like a bug with iOS 10.0.2 in combination with Carplay running in the Volvo XC90 software.

I hope it will be fixed soon.

I have a 2016 VW Golf GTI that worked almost flawlessly (see next paragraph) with Apple Carplay running on an iPhone 6plus and iOS 9.3. Once I upgraded to iOS 10 (and 10.0.2) it will freeze up. Music will continue to play, but buttons will cease to work. If I try to change the track by moving forward or backwards, there will be at least a 10 second lag. This isn't consistent, but I'd say it happens around 50% of the time. A few times, if I tap the Now Playing icon, there will be about a 10-15 second delay and then it will in slow motion zoom (get larger) and then go back to the home screen. If I just wait, things seem to clear up.

I haven't had any problems connecting the phone and I don't use Bluetooth. However, with iOS 9.3 I did have some connection issues from time-to-time. There were two solutions. 1) My lightning adapter input area on my phone was totally filled with dust. Once I cleared it out with a toothpick it worked wonderfully. It just wasn't making a solid connection. 2) I removed the car from the Carplay list on my phone and re-added it and this resulted in Carplay working flawlessly again. I've not had these problems with iOS 10 as of yet.

Used the following link to ROLL BACK iOS 10.2 update and everything including my Pandora stations are back to working fine. The link is http://www.redmondpie.com/how-to-downgrade-ios-10-beta-to-ios-9.x-tutorial/ i'm no computer genius but i followed the directions closely. 1st download the iOS 9.x to your download folder. The size of the file is 2.24GB the name for use on my iPhone 6+ (not 6s+) is (iPhone7,1_9.3.5_13G36_Restore.ipsw). The option key will bring up the located file in your download folder. Click it and hope yours works out as well as mine did. Shout out to all you people for keeping the heat on Apple to fix this issue with CarPlay in iOS 10.
