iPhone 7 - Keeps Freezing!!!

I have just taken on the iPhone 7. I have noticed a couple of issues:

1) Freezing: When I open, contacts or whats app... it just stays on that screen. The lock button, or home button does not work. This will last for about 1.5 minutes!!!! Then the phone will be ok, but may take a few pictures ... this is maybe me pressing the lock and home button together

2) Camera - a lot of the times when I open the camera, I get just a black screen where the camera is, then after a couple of seconds my camera comes on....

Has any one else had these issues, and any help with it? I presume its an ios issue rather than a phone issue?

Continue to hold the Power button and press and hold the Volume down button located on the left side of your iPhone. Hold both buttons as the iPhone powers off and back on; release both buttons when the Apple logo appears on the screen.

Sorry in advance - this is going to be long:

I've been keeping an eye on this thread hoping someone would have come up with a solution by now. My husband and I both upgraded to the iPhone 7 the first day it came out from the iPhone6. He got the 128GB black and I got the 128GB rose gold. We both restored from our backups. His phone has been fine from day one. Mine has been a nightmare. Not less than 24 hours after having the phone, the keyboard kept freezing up, and then the entire phone was frozen so badly that I couldn't even get it to reset. I brought it back to the store and they returned it under their return policy and gave me a brand new phone (iPhone 7 #2). I restored this one from my backup as well. Within about 3-4 days of having this phone, I began having the issue of the keyboard freezing in messages, emails, notes, etc. I hopped onto Apple chat and the Apple tech had me wipe the phone and set it up as new (via a computer with iTunes), assuming that something in my previous backup was corrupt and causing the issue. I pulled in my contacts from icloud/gmail, and downloaded my previously purchased apps. The issue continued to persist. I then called Apple support, and the woman I spoke with suggested I go into an Apple store and speak to a specialist. This was on 9/21 and the Apple store specialists had not heard of anyone having this issue yet read the case history and replaced the phone under warranty. I again set up the phone as new out of the box. The issue still persisted, and so I made an appointment to go back to Apple on 10/3. I spoke with a different specialist, and he remembered me from the previous appointment and read my case history again. He spoke with his manager, and said that they don't believe it's a hardware issue since it's persisted across multiple devices. He said to wait until IOS 10.1 was released and that if that update didn't solve the problem to make another appointment and come back. Needless to say, 10.1 did not solve the issue, and I was back at Apple on 11/4 and got iPhone 7 #4 under warranty, yet this one froze up so quickly that I was back at Apple again on 11/5 and they replaced the phone yet again and strongly suggested that the issue be escalated to a senior advisor at Apple. So I'm on my 5th iPhone 7 and am in direct contact with a senior advisor at Apple. It's now been escalated to Apple Engineering. I've wiped my phone again and they're trying to isolate the issue. I was out of icloud for a couple of days and the issue didn't persist. I've now signed back into icloud but have no apps on my phone, and I just signed back into iTunes. I'll update as this progresses, and hopefully with a solution.

I am on my 4th iPhone 7 128GB. The issue persists, although it is happening less often than it used to happen. Although I realize this isn't happening to most customers, this thread demonstrates that it does happen. I find it hard to believe Apple has not heard of the issue. This episode has shaken my confidence in Apple. I am not enjoying my new phone.

For the record, I have set up as a new iPhone at least four times.

Yup I keep having the same issues, screen freezes.. To add injury to insult, this is the 3rd iPhone iteration in a row in which I've had issues with the phone. My 5 would get stupid hot, freeze, randomly drop calls like turn off in the middle fully charged. My 6, this was the worst, the phone wouldn't stay connected to my wifi if I were more than ten feet away from the source, randomly rebooted, GPS out the box didn't work, I mean it would literally state "no gps signal" in the Waze app, on the google maps it would stay stuck on "locating", although I had LTE coverage, it would only connect to 3G.. I brought the phone to apple, they said take it to sprint, took it to sprint they said it's apples issue.. Now this 7, screen freezes.. Apple, 3 strikes you're out!! I was just about to jump ship on the galaxy till the FAA deemed it a terrorist tool.. Now I'm looking at that Google phone pretty hard...

This kept happening to me. Any App that used text would freeze causing me to reboot the app and lose everything that was typed to that point. What I did was go to settings > general > keyboard and turn off all of the features (auto-capitalization, auto-correction, check spelling, enable caps lock, predictive, character preview, "." shortcut). I then went to typing apps and it worked perfectly. Then I went back and turned on all the features and have not had a problem since. I wonder if it has something to do with "resetting" something on an update when you turn it all "off" then back "on" again.

Hope this works for everyone!
