macOS Sierra - No Sound
I just updated to macOS Sierra. Now I have no sound what-so-ever.
Checked all the usual things (speakers, volume, settings, etc.).
Is there a macOS 10.12 sound driver or anything that I can reinstall?

Hi, I just found out that my Mac Mini has the very same issue with sound from external speakers.
i am not very good with resetting the OSX and with setting the rest of the stuff.
Is someone maybe able to describe how I can set the HDMI as described, as I haven't got a clue where to do that.
Many thanks in advance, as its highly frustrating to have no sound comping from my external speakers since the update to Sierra.
I have audio again!!! Excellent work lukefrombrno!
OK Dennis, follow this:
1. Open "Audio MIDI Setup" by looking in the "Other" section on your Launchpad.
2. Select HDMI from the list on the left.
3. Change the "Format" dropdown to 16bit 2 ch Integer 48.o kHz and you should get audio back!
If you don't, try changing all your settings (on the left) to the 16bit 2 ch 48 kHz option from the dropdown list.
The solution to a missing sound driver is to reinstall the entire OS?
this is a joke. Right?
This solution totally worked for me! Spent hours searching and trying to figure this out. THANK you so much!
Setting HDMI audio format to 2 ch 16-bit integer 48.0 KHz in Audio MIDI Setup fixed the problem for me too.
I did the reinstall of the OS and the sound still did not work. Any other solutions?
This was the most helpful and quickest! Thank you! Less time than waiting for an OS X reinstall. Never edited those settings before. Idk why the HDMI audio output gets changed by itself.
