uConnect 8.4 & iOS 10 issues!!!

Help!!

I've got a 2016 Jeep Cherokee and uConnect 8.4 (updated to the latest firmware). Ever since I updated my phone to iOS 10, when plugging in via USB, my music no longer plays through the stereo.

Here's a break down of the issues:

Audio no longer playing through stereo system

So this is a biggie. It no longer plays music through USB. The bigger issue is when i plug it in via USB, it starts playing the audio through my phone, not through the stereo. The option in the middle to choose a different output only shows 'iPhone', no 'uConnect' on the phone. The reason i know it's suppose to say uConnect is because when i do plug it in, uConnect is there for a mere second, then it just disappears and goes to iPhone. I can control the music through my steering wheel and other knobs in the car, but it just plays music from the external speaker on the iPhone, not the stereo. I assume this is definitely a software issue that needs to be fixed ASAP!

Plays first track every time i plug it in existing my current playlist that was previously playing

Another issue I had (even back with iOS 9) was every time i plugged in my phone, it would exit my current playlist on the phone and play the very first music track overall (not in any playlist). This really ***** as every time i plug in the phone to my car, it kills where i previously left off with a song.

Siri hanging and not responding after talking

So the uConnect system has Siri enabled, however, when you do talk to Siri and you are no longer speaking, it doesn't make the exit respond sound indicating that it has taken in your speech. It just sits there and doesn't do anything. So i've never been able to use Siri in my car yet. This was also happening with iOS 9.

I hope to get a response to these issues i'm having. It really *****. I'm painfully waiting for the CarPlay update to be released to uConnect ASAP so i can stop using their terrible out-dated system!!

I sincerely hope my first issue about audio not playing through my stereo gets fixed ASAP!

Anyone else experiencing these problems?

Sincerely,

- Adam J.

Same issues here on a 2014 Dodge Durango Limited with the 8.4NAV (RA4) Uconnect head unit and an iPhone 6+ 128GB with ios 10.0.2 installed. When I plug in the phone via the USB port in the center console, Uconnect sees the "iPod" but won't play anything, and trying to force the iPhone to start the music results in only hearing it from the phone itself. I'm going to try the USB port with my old iPod Touch 64GB to see if it's the Uconnect or the iPhone that's failing to work as it should.

My Uconnect (per the site's VIN search) is version MY13_MY14_RA4_16_13_13. This was supposed to add "Siri Eyes Free" to the head unit, but that doesn't seem to work either. I've re-downloaded the update, and will apply it again to see if that helps.

Note: As most everyone above has stated, BLUETOOTH works. However, we all know that's not the IDEAL way to transfer music for the best fidelity, especially when you've got a USB port available to connect via. To those who are confused, Bluetooth is the WIRELESS option and not the preferred method for connecting the iPhone to the car for music purposes. It also seems that if you DO connect via the USB, it prevents the Bluetooth audio functionality from starting (which means if you want to charge while using BT, you'll have to use the 12V power port). I haven't tried to use the phone as an actual phone when it was connected via the USB port; I'd suspect that works since the phone function is a different protocol under Bluetooth.

I have noticed the latest update released in April 2016 to my Jeep Cherokee 8.4A/RA3 (not NAV), is messed up, even before iOS 10.

Sometimes takes a while to turn on, buttons don't work for a few minutes, clock is off by a few minutes at end of day, sometimes does nothing.

Buttons seem to work but nothing changes. Then all of a sudden, all the presses I made previously will go thru real quick/.

Have to restart (by holding both Mute and Browse/Enter buttons) to get it to do work.

I have flashed it several times. Time to take it in to dealer.

The Uconnect worked when I used my iPod, but sat there doing nothing when the iPhone 6+ was plugged into the same functioning USB port. And to be sure it wasn't some ridiculous Apple-enforced cable problem, I used original Apple cables for both devices.

On the plus side, plugging in the phone via USB and placing a call works as it should. Again, the hands-free protocol is different than the audio transfer protocol in BT, so I'm not surprised.

Apple. It just works. Not.

Glad to see your setup is working. However, you have the newest model year Durango and the newest version of the iPhone. SO...the firmware on your Durango isn't the same as earlier models, and the update to 10.0.3 only applies to iPhone 7 (it fixes some connectivity issues that device was having). An older iPhone won't get it.

Post your Uconnect firmware revision too...I'm sure it's different than mine (MY13_MY14_RA4_16_13_13). Earlier versions of the same vehicle/radio option are on different firmwares.

Compared to everyone else in this thread, I have a relatively old 2011 Jeep GC Overland UConnect system that's paired with my iPhone 7 running iOS 10.1. Voice calls pair successfully. Audio streaming is another issue. Neither my iPhone 7 music library nor does apps like Pandora come through the car speakers although UConnect says it's paired for voice and audio. Even my iPhone claims it's connected to UConnect for audio streaming. It's simply about no audio coming through the car speakers. Side note, I've paired my iPhone to a separate Bluetooth adapter with a 3.5mm to headphones; that works as it should. So it's UConnect. I contacted UConnect customer support this morning (877.855.8400) and they explained that the higher quality music files from my Apple device coming over the stream are not compatible with UConnect, especially my (older) model. My older software will only accept mp.3 and WMV files while the higher quality files are mp.4 or others, and they don't intend on doing a software update with my RHR radio. So UConnect blames Apple, Apple says get with the program, and me being the consumer I'm **** outta luck unless I go 3.5mm jack to the AUX input, defeating the purpose of 5-year old technology.
