MacOS Sierra - Safari has 300% CPU
Just installed... and the pages and app in the Activity Monitor for Safari are amounting to about 300% and the fan going crazy. Any similar issues out there and advice? thx

I have just removed Trusteer Rapport off my Mac and I have to admit, it seems to have calmed everything down. Both Mail Web Content and Safari are now behaving themselves in terms of CPU usage so far...
If you have Trusteer Rapport installed, as Shawn posted - try removing it and see whether it helps.
Could be TRusteer, unfortunately, I have to run it for my job. I just checked their website, and they dont yet support safari V10. could be the problem I guess.
Don't have Trusteer, definately not. Still no chance using Safari...
Any news?
Uninstall "Bitdefender" and determine if that solves the problem. If not, write back for additional suggestions.
Had the same issue (Safari taking 200% CPU) and had just posted to the Safari stream. Now I see this stream and have "stopped" Trusteer Rapport in Preferences. Seems to have solved the issue. Thanks.
Do you have any Safari extensions installed?
Bitdefender may be one of the issues... maybe not for everyone. My Safari has (i hope) stopped taking high CPU. Possibly since I stopped (but not yet uninstalled Bitdefender). Fingers crossed
Yea, uninstalling trusteer seems to have fixed the problem, so I went the route of installing Windows 10 in a Virtual Box, and then installed trusteer there, along with Citrix receiver. I will now use that for work, that way I can fully uninstall trusteer and citrix from mac usage.
It seemed BitDefender was my problem. No high CPU with it off. Alas Sierra still has broken the AFP connection to my two Synology NAS units.
Great! Thanks for the update.
My Safari stopped eating CPU 2 days ago.
I have truesteer and i didn't uninstalled, but i think that it wasn't activated on my use.
I hope it get's updated soon to solve the problem.
Until now my safari is good.
I keep you updated if it returns to eat CPU.
solution that worked for me: stop trusteer, restart safari, start trusteer again. now cpu level is normal again.
