iPhone 7 battery drain

Hi,

I've recently purchased iPhone 7 and setup with iOS 10.0.1, restoring my Apple ID using laptop from an iPhone 6 which was running iOS 10.0.1 also.

For the past 3 days my iPhone 7 battery has been draining really quickly meaning i'm having to charge my phone at least twice a day and i've been using the phone very sparingly. My behaviors have not changed from Iphone 6 (if anything i'm using apps less due to poor battery drain), but i'm finding the phone battery life to be far worse than my previous iPhone and not acceptable.

I don't use battery intensive apps much such as Music or Pokemon go etc and my highest Battery % drain for past 4 days has been Twitter at 27% then Mail at 16%. i do have location services on for apps whilst using but as i say my general phone behavior has not changed since iPhone 6 and im finding the 7 to be draining very quickly. it also appears to charge slower as well.

Any advice would be appreciated. I'm certain I don't need to run the battery saving ideas that the call centre keep advising me to do.

Thanks

iPhone 7, iOS 10

Same here. Got the phone, it was fine for a few weeks. Then suddenly, one afternoon it just start draining like a mad cow. I hadn't done any updates, used any apps, or even physically touched/moved the phone. It was sitting on my desk at work, all day...untouched except for checking the time.

As per Apple Support's recommendations, I:

- Rebooted phone

- Force closed all apps and rebooted phone

- Reset settings

- Restored from backup

- Restored from a really old backup

- Restore as new phone

Craziest thing was it was completely inconsistent. I had one night where the phone was burning hot and took 6 hours to charge 3%. The next day it drained without use and took 8 hours to charge 40 something %.

Battery was reporting an app using 44% battery - even though that app had not been opened in ages. It was also reporting 3min usage at 2 hour standby...but battery was already at 21% (from a full charge 2 hours prior).

I got a replacement phone today...and so far...battery seems to be doing the same thing. I'm going mental!!!

Everyone should try these tips:

1) erase all settings and content and reinstall your apps, etc. There may be files that installed incorrectly and are using unnecessary processing power.

2) cycle the battery 3X - let it run down until the phone shuts off, then recharge to 100%. Repeat this 3X. I did this over the course of 3 days.

It helped, but the battery life is still not great - no better than my 6 Plus, so I think there is still a problem. But at least I can get through the day on one charge now. Part of the problem was that the battery level indicator was not very accurate - doing (2) should help fix that.

I did first step and worked for me. First I started as a new iPhone and used like one hour. After I decided it was ok than I upload my last back up and now it looks fine. It is cold and battery performance is really good. I assume all those related about apple watch2 and apple music. I did both fresh start with iphone7 and watch2. and still have problems

first iphone7 didn't sync with apple music library but after many times log outs and log ins now finally started

second syncing playlist with watch2 is still a problem. often pending to upload music to watch own storage.

I first started having this issue last Wednesday with my iPhone 7 Plus, when I notice by lunch my battery was down to about 18%. I attributed it to being an area of poor coverage (although the day before I wasn't that low). Since they I have continually been reviewing apps using battery, background refresh, etc. and switching off non-essential things. The puzzling thing is that the setting are exactly the same as my iPhone 6 Plus, which had no issues until towards the end of its two year life (and then it didn't seem this bad).

I tried to investigate this a bit more and see how fast I am loosing charge. This is just one data point, but this is what I found.

Per Apple's specs, the iPhone 7 Plus should last (worst-case) 13hrs of usage and 16days of standby. On a per minute basis (assuming you go from 100% to 0% over those time periods) it's 0.128% per minute during usage and 0.004% per minute during standby. On a ratio basis, the usage to standby time is 3% to 97%.

Today at 11:27 my phone was at 60% charge. The battery settings said I used the phone for 49 minutes since last full charge and had 2 hours 32 minutes of standby time. Using the theoretical battery usage from the Apple specification page I should be at 93%, which means I have lost 33% more charge than I should have. This is a 0.199% loss per minute, nearly twice the highest loss rate (pure usage) of 0.128% stated by Apple.

I have to say that this is pretty disappointing, especially since I have been a long-time iPhone user and Apple product user.
