iPhone 7 battery drain

Hi,

I've recently purchased iPhone 7 and setup with iOS 10.0.1, restoring my Apple ID using laptop from an iPhone 6 which was running iOS 10.0.1 also.

For the past 3 days my iPhone 7 battery has been draining really quickly meaning i'm having to charge my phone at least twice a day and i've been using the phone very sparingly. My behaviors have not changed from Iphone 6 (if anything i'm using apps less due to poor battery drain), but i'm finding the phone battery life to be far worse than my previous iPhone and not acceptable.

I don't use battery intensive apps much such as Music or Pokemon go etc and my highest Battery % drain for past 4 days has been Twitter at 27% then Mail at 16%. i do have location services on for apps whilst using but as i say my general phone behavior has not changed since iPhone 6 and im finding the 7 to be draining very quickly. it also appears to charge slower as well.

Any advice would be appreciated. I'm certain I don't need to run the battery saving ideas that the call centre keep advising me to do.

Thanks

Here's my update:

1. After iOS 10.0.3, I noticed the phone wasn't getting as warm as it used to during charging.

2. After iOS 10.1... I let the battery discharge all the way down to 0% and then charged the phone while keeping

it switched off.

This fixed my problem. I still don't think that the battery is better than my 6s plus. But at least things like the standby mode drain, etc is not a problem. Battery life generally seems to be good.

Yeah me too!!!i have been using iphone since the original iPhone, till now, and im pretty disappointed with my iphone 7, i was too excited to get this phone, and the battery seemed nonsense for me it drained too fast, i cant do more activities..i tried many ways to save the battery like restoring, resetting, close all apps and its nothing..my 5s $ 6s is far better than my iphone 7, *****

I completely agree with you. I have significantly reduced my phone usage since i6, but the battery doesn't seem to stop discharging, even when all apps are closed and the phone is not in use. I find myself charging this phone 2-3x a day. Don't understand what sort of battery improvement has apple made on this phone. I am over my 14-day return period, is it still possible to have it exchanged under the warrantee?

I realize this topic was first opened way back in October but I'm wondering if people are still experiencing issues? I've had my new iPhone 7 for a few months and it has been horrible when it comes to battery life. AppleCare support was absolutely useless for the first few contact attempts. They told me that logs show my phone is operating as it should. The problem is that it loses 1-3% of battery every hour without use. I'm a very light user and don't use any form of social media. I text and even that usage is generally less than 600 messages per month. I also make/receive an average of about 8 calls per week. There are many days that my phone just sits on the desk for 8-10 hours before I even touch it. The phone is currently at 17% and less than 24 hours ago it was at 100%. I received a five minute phone call last night and that is all. All apps are closed and background app refresh has been turned off for nearly every app. I also don't allow notifications from apps other than a few of the built-in ones.

About four weeks ago, I finally got through to someone within Apple support and they started looking into the problem a little more seriously. During our testing, I decided to just turn the phone off one evening out of frustration. It was fully charged at 100%. When I turned it on the next day, it was down to 86%. I've been able to duplicate this problem repeatedly. Apple had me run a sys diagnose and send to them. Engineering reported back that the phone logs are showing that it is being turned on even though it was turned off. They basically accused me of not knowing the difference between sleeping and physically being turned off.

I have a continuing case regarding this problem but I'm starting to get annoyed because I've seen a few other posts where people have had similar problems and they had their phones swapped. Apple is refusing to do that for me. When it started, I stated that it wouldn't make sense to just swap it until we had some better idea of the problem but we are well past that now. In the time it took me to write these three paragraphs, the phone has dropped to 16%. For the record, I'm typing on my MacBook Pro and the phone is sitting on the desk. I started making videos of the battery issues as I feel like Apple is acting like I'm just making this all up. I'm beyond annoyed at this point but I've been an Apple user for over 15 years. It's hard to switch but with support like this... So is anyone else still experiencing these problems? Any suggestions for documenting the issues with irrefutable proof? Thanks.

Well, believe it or not, one of the agents I spoke with told me I needed to go into a store. The closest stores are over 45 minutes away... and I'm really not a fan of the crowds. When I told him this wasn't an option, he told me point blank "Well, your mistaken if you think I'm just going to replace your phone". I've also made the statement about switching to other devices and they just don't seem to care. I don't get it. I haven't dealt with support in quite awhile but I feel like things have changed. It's not like it used to be. Something "feels" different. Here's the kicker. I was so frustrated that I sent an email to a certain someone sitting at the top. I got a response from a corporate executive relations rep who is still in contact with me. I've even offered to send the phone to someone and be without it for however long it takes so they can see that I'm not making this up. That isn't an option. Instead, I keep getting calls from a senior level iOS person asking me to perform these sys diagnose tasks after doing this or that.

That's frustrating. The experience is not consistent, that's for sure. Mine was that I went in to the Palo Alto Apple Store, where they ran some diagnostics and all seemed fine. They said to erase the phone and reinstall everything, and if that didn't help, I would get a new phone.

That's what I did and they sent me a new phone. I had to get slightly annoyed with the Apple support person on the phone, as they didn't have a record of my Palo Alto store experience; but it wasn't too bad.

Do you have Apple Care? I do.
