iPhone 7 GPS constantly changing in Maps

Is anyone having issues with GPS on the iPhone 7? In Maps, my "location" (i.e., blue dot) is jumping all around my current location. It doesn't seem to be getting a lock on my actual GPS location. I have noticed that it also affects other apps that use GPS.

Update on my open case with Apple:

I received a replacement iPhone 7 yesterday. Did a run this morning using Strava and the situation is improved but not resolved. Here's the "data":

Google maps: 2.4mi

iPhone 6: 2.4mi

iPhone 7 (original): 2.9

iPhone 7 (new): 2.6

So my first 7 was off by nearly 20% (repeatably) and the new one is off by about 10%. Better but not great. I've given this info to Apple and we'll see what they say.

I would not expect a posting on this forum to constitute a strong enough signal to Apple that you are having a problem. If this bug is biting you, open a case and they will make it right.

I'm on my third iPhone 7 now, and it's better than the second, but still not at all good enough. I'm not going to replace this phone for a while until there's more information from apple, but I've notified the service technician that the problem persists.

The developer of iSmoothRun is working on an update which I think will give sufficiently good results with iPhone 7. This would give me a phone that works sufficiently well for me to start using it (I'm using my iPhone 6 now) ands thus buy me some more time to wait for apple to react to this.

Yep I think this is what I'm going to do as well. New one is better but not great. I'll wait till they completely know what the deal is before bothering switching my stuff to a new device. 5 different auth systems to transfer 2FA tokens is a huge pain in the ***, plus re-logging into all the apps that lose auth state between devices even with an iCloud restore.

I had several iPhone 7s (unlocked, UK, Vodafone). Sadly they all exhibited similar GPS errors: some units poor, some terrible.

I could see my position hopping around (noisy) in Maps or Google Maps when driving. I could live with that but not the frankly unacceptable errors when using Strava or other tracking apps. 10-20% distance error was typical for a cycle ride unless in perfectly open ground - and even then sometimes things went very awry - my evidence all pointing to hardware antenna/receiver issues.

Apple Store diagnosed each returned phone and told me "nothing wrong with it", with an impatient attitude I may add. Sadly (since it's an otherwise wonderful device) I've walked away for now, and reverted to using my iPhone 4 still. No positioning errors whatsoever, as accurate as my Garmin eTrex in all scenarios.

I really hope this acknowledged and resolved for everyone.

I was able to convince Apple that my iPhone 7 Plus's GPS was not working correctly by creating a video of it next to an iPhone SE, both with maps open. The SE had a solid lock on my position, the 7 Plus would bounce around, sometimes by miles. I got a replacement phone and the replacement phone has a perfect GPS.

I still think that this is a hardware defect and it might even be the case that Apple keeps sending out defective replacement units that have been returned or something. Who knows. Something weird is going on.

I actually asked my Sr. Tech this very thing - are they sure it's resolved or are they just swapping the device. I think she gave me a tentative "yeah we know it's resolved" but my bet is they aren't sure what HW/FW glitch is actually doing this. Based on the fact that most folks are not complaining, it's probably hit or miss. I won't press for another replacement until they know what the deal is. **** maybe a software/firmware update can resolve it and I won't have to swap phones again.

Like some one else in this thread i narrowed it down to something with the GPS and WiFi. When connected to WiFi at home, in maps my location is switching from correct position to half a mile away and back every third second. When switching off WiFi the location is stable, but at the wrong location half a mile away. When i switch on WiFi it immediately starts jumping back and forth.

I tried it when out walking, with WiFi on but not connected to any Network, just cellular and noticed the same behaviour.
