iPhone 7 GPS constantly changing in Maps

Is anyone having issues with GPS on the iPhone 7? In Maps, my "location" (i.e., blue dot) is jumping all around my current location. It doesn't seem to be getting a lock on my actual GPS location. I have noticed that it also affects other apps that use GPS.

I have the same problem: the GPS accuracy on my iPhone 7 is really bad.

I used to track my run with Strava with my iPhone 6 and realised it was not working anymore after I get my iPhone 7.

I thought it was the app but noticed other GPS-based apps were not working (Apple Maps, Google Maps, etc.).

Here is a photo of my iPhone 6 (left) compared to my iPhone 7 (right). Same condition (Wi-Fi off), same carrier, same OS version (10.0.2). Look at the horizontal and vertical accuracy, it's as if my iPhone 7 was not receiving any GPS signal (only carriers). I really don't know what's wrong and if it is a software or hardware issue.

I will try to get an appointment at an Apple Store asap.

I have the exact same problem. I ran the iOS 10 public beta on my iPhone 6s and did not notice this issue before upgrading to the iPhone 7 (jet black). However, when I reboot the phone, the issue goes away for some time, so I haven't tried going the replacement route. Fortunately, after reading this thread, it seems like it's unlikely to help, anyway.

Most often the problem begins to occur after driving and using Google Maps, but it's visible from within any app where I'm using location services. The orientation appears to be incorrect, and my location jumps around, being off up to a mile or so. This is really annoying!

Just commenting to add my "me too."

I'm on iPhone 7, Rose Gold, AT&T. First noticed the problem when tracking my runs in Strava--the gps looks like it has a lock (or at least it's finding my location within a hundred feet), but once I start running it becomes wildly inacurrate. Strava map will show zig zagging on a straight out-and-back route, and adds about .2 miles for every mile run. I took it in to the Genius Bar this past weekend and all they would do was "Restore as new" and made a note on my account that if I continue to have problems they will replace with a new phone. Of course, on my test run yesterday it's still glitching. Not sure if it's worth going to all the trouble to get a new phone at this point--sounds like the replacements aren't faring much better.

I will note that before upgrading to the 7, I loaded iOS 10 onto my 5s, and that phone, too, started experiencing gps inaccuracy. I don't think it was nearly as bad as it is on the 7, though.

Same here: iPhone 7 128GB Matte Black

During the last weeks I went through all the possible steps with Apple Online Support (Chat) and in the Apple Store. In the end, they gave me a brand new iPhone 7, but even that didn't resolve the issue.

I think it's an iOS 10 bug and it will hopefully be resolved in one of the next updates.

It's slightly better, since they made me turn off LTE-Voice.

After some testing, I think it's software, too. If I turn on airplane mode (so that it's only using GPS satellites), then turn location services off and on again, it's very accurate. I can walk around my house and see the dot moving with me in Google Maps (which works in airplane mode).

As soon as I turn airplane mode off, the blue dot starts jumping around. It also jumps around on my (WiFi only) iPad Air 2 since upgrading to iOS 10.

Same issue here with iPhone 7+ 128gb matte black. I am a driver and depend heavily on the GPS, I use it about 15 seperate times a day. I never once for nearly 2 years had a problem with my iPhone 6 GPS. From day one with the 7+ it's been a huge headache. It only works about 50% of the time, the other half of the time it gets stuck in a field, or doesn't know where I'm at. The problem usually last for about 5 minutes before it finally figures out where it's at again for a few minutes.

I had an idea to open up the compass app while the phone is lost, and the compass had no clue where North is.

So I got sick of pulling over and waiting for the phone to set course again while I'm in unfamiliar neighborhoods, and I made an appointment with apple.

The first thing they tried was resetting the phone as new without an iCloud restore. Needless to say this did not help. They said bring it back if I still had an issue and they would probably replace the phone itself.

So about 4 days later I was finally able to get in with an appointment to an apple store, and the extremely nice guy replaced the phone. I thought for sure this nightmare would be behind me.

The replacement phone is just as bad as the first one, the GPS is completely useless.

So now I'm trying to decide if I want to downgrade iPhones and go back to a 6, switch over to Android, Or shell out some money for a Garmin.

At this point I am furious that I have an $850 telephone that can't find itself. I don't know where to go from here.

I just got my iPhone 7 Plus and am noticing that the GPS jumps around as well. I got completely lost trying to find a location using Apple Maps because the GPS was bouncing around and kept reporting wrong directions. In one case today, I was on the 405 North in Seattle and I needed to get to a destination off the 90 West. The navigation directions on Apple maps said I was a full 2.1 miles away from the 90W, but in reality I was only about 200 feet from it. I had full bars and a good signal so couldn't understand how this could be. The rest of the trip where I really need directions was hopeless. I even turned off the FWY and switched to Google Maps thinking that it was purely an Apple Maps issue. I got just as poor results using Google Maps as the location kept jumping around. I've been an iPhone 6 user for a couple of years and never experienced anything like this. I'm really hoping it's a software issue because backing up and restoring to a new phone is so time consuming. I'll continue to monitor this thread - but it looks like the issue really needs to be addressed as there are many others reporting similar issues.
