macOS Sierra can't detect 2560 x 1440 monitor resolution correctly

I have two BENQ GW2765 monitors connected to my machine and both were fine before upgrading to Sierra. Now the one on the HDMI port has dropped down to 1080p while the one on the display port is still at 2560*1440. Same model of monitor, same machine, different resolution depending on port type. Both were the same on Yosemite.

Please file your own bug report. It is important that Apple know a lot of people care about using external monitors on their Macs

Same problem here, Acer CB280HK monitor. Filed a bug report

Just wondering: does it offer other resolutions if you lower the refresh rate?

Yes, 1920x1080 and downwards, which is way too big for my screen

Just to make sure: I was talking about switch to something lower than 60Hz, and asking if doing so would offer other choices above 1920x1080.

Experiencing a similar issue - Tho' I have a 4K 32-inch Monitor that refuses to do 2560X1440 (3840x2160 and 2048x1152 are available, but my previous 2560x1440 is gone, which mimicked my previous imac resolution).

Filed bug report as well.

Guess I shouldn't have upgraded so soon.

I have the same exact problem with my LG 34" Ultrawide. You'd think they would have had that figured out before launch. Now I have to wait until someone figures out a "bug fix".

Maybe your bug report will be the one to tip the balance, or provide the information that helps identify the problems.

The more reports filed for different monitors, connection methods, resolution desires, etc... the better. You want to get the attention of management that is deciding where to spend developer resources.

What an annoyance.

I received an answer already from Apple concerning my bug:"Engineering has determined that your bug report (28465670) is a duplicate of another issue (27200036) and will be closed."

Hope this gets solved soon...
