When swapping over to 'Guest user' the problem is ( kind of ) solved. So I can function. It's a pain having to reinstall my preferences here but for now It's usable. The mouse works and clicking a full screen icon doesn't log me out. It is still Sierra, but works as it isn't my account, for whatever reason.

If it took a click here and there to ZAPATERA Sierra I surely would! 😕

I had a very similar problem when I upgraded to Sierra - when I used the hot key (e.g. ^1, ^2, etc) to switch between different Spaces, I would get logged out.

I created a new user account and that worked properly, so I knew it wasn't inherent to Sierra or my hardware, and then spent a long time working through all my installed software and prefpanes, etc. to figure out the problem.

All the software seemed to work properly with the new user account and it could still switch between Spaces properly with a hot key, so I spent another couple of hours sorting the the plist files in my main account and found the culprit (for me): removing the com.apple.universalaccess.plist file from ~/Library/Preferences resolved the problem and the Spaces hot keys now work properly.

Creating a new account worked for me.

I had to do this on my last update (to El Cap) for a different reason: Mail wouldn't open.

If you have most of your docs stored in iCloud, it's not a big deal to solve the problem this way. If you have lots of pics in Photos, that can take a while to download the thumbnails, and if you have a MBAir, you can expect its fan to run flat out for a while.

But on the positive side, you'll have a nice fresh account, and you can re-install your Apps as and when required.

I don't claim to have found the following solution, I came across it in another thread. I'll try to find it, and express my thanks. But here it is; it worked for me...

Go to ~/Library/Preferences, then remove com.apple.universalaccess.plist. Close the window where you did that; close any other windows that were open; launch Safari, or a video, or Preview etc then enter full screen, and it should be ok again.

Yeees! I deleted the file (and a five year old com.apple.universalaccess.plist.lockfile and one with a random string at the end, they were both zero bytes) and restarted my MacBook Pro. Have tested fullscreen a few times, and so far no crashes!

Thank you so much for spending the time and posting your solution! Now I can enjoy video full screen again.

User uploaded filePut this bad boy in the bin and no more log outs on swiping or enlarging youtube vids. etc.

Go to Finder - Macintosh HD - Library - PreferencePanes - drag to 'Trash' 😉

Good luck. It worked for me after trying everything else. I don't really know what I'm doing but I expect Rapport would need to be reinstalled if you want to use it. I think it was used for online banking but I'll risk not having it.

If anyone knows differently please enlighten me before someone does the dirty on me.......
