It started happening with Sierra. I wish Apple would chime in because going on a fishing expedition of creating a new user account and transferring all data to it is a large undertaking, for no resolution. If it is a User based issue Apple should be able to tell us what needs be corrected under the covers of hidden files.

It happens when I use a 3-finger swipe upwards to display all the Desktop Space icons across each of my 3 screens. Everything is good so far. Next I move my mouse up to the icons, and at that moment, BING, I am logged out. At that point each of the physical screens has a "home" Desktop Space, the Space that is most to the left. Each of the home spaces then holds ALL the Apps. There is NO logical order. Screen 1's home space may contain apps that had been in a space on screen 3. The only solution is to slowly drag each app back to its appropriate Space, to get working again. There seems to be no problem doing that.

Then I get back to working. In time I want to move a Space that contains debug information nearer to a Space that contains code in an IDE. I do the 3-Finger swipe again and BING, all is lost once again.

Apple really needs to get into this and sort it out.

I have no idea how to fix this issue but transferring data was what worked for me. I also tried contacting support but they redirected me to a more like advanced support then they said they were contacting like engineers to let them know about this issue and they said that they would give me a call but they never did so I left matters into my own hands and transferred the data.
