iOS 10 Black Screen Spinning Wheel

Been using iOS 10.0.1 for about a week on an iPhone 6 and it's buggy. The issues below have only occurred since upgrading to iOS 10. Please fix in next release or provide solution.

1. Random black screen with spinning wheel. The upgrade went fine, so not that black screen. But at least daily my phone becomes unresponsive and shows a black screen with spinning wheel. After 5-10 seconds I'm prompted to enter my passcode as if the device has restarted. I'm not the only person experiencing this - and even managed to capture the image below.

2 - I've enabled the 'rest finger to open' option under home screen accessibility, but this doesn't always work. Again, about once a day, resting my finger to open results in me being prompted to press the home button to unlock. Each time this has happened I've checked and confirmed that the 'rest finger to open' option was enabled.

It's due to a date bug (Dec 2nd) causing local notifications to crash Springboard. For some people, Headspace is the only app they use with local notifications so deleting that was a work around. It won't work by itself if you have other apps with local notifications. Installing iOS 11.2 is the correct solution.

Same problem here. Randomly, 2-3x a day, my iPhone 6 goes to a black screen with a spinning wheel while I'm unlocked and using an App. In my case the situation resolves itself after 10-30 seconds and the phone returns to the lock screen where I have to enter my code again. I do have Outlook installed and I've turned off notifications to see if that helps.

Bottom line is that the IOS architecture is built to prevent this type of issue from being created by Apps.

While this may have been a fix for you, this doesn't explain how there are multiple people in this thread (including myself) who have brand new iPhone 7/7+ devices that have been seeing this issue. I'd understand if it were an older iPhone that had an upgrade from iOS 9 to 10 or if your new iPhone hardware was set up from a cloud or iTunes backup, but for a completely new iPhone that shipped with iOS 10 set up as a "new iPhone" to have this problem?

I wonder if you may still see the issue, but just less commonly now. This is what happened for me when I tried the steps you describe.

I know this sounds sketchy but I have the fix. email me if you want it. **** Apple removed my post, I cannot share the fix here because it is developer info. I think it is ****** that I can't share it here. I myself rely on my iPhone to feed my family and put a roof on our head. I am an Uber driver and when I got my iPhone 7plus I almost was terminated from being an Uber driver. Many riders complained about me because the app would close in the background and not give me directions. Thankfully I found the fix.

I have the exact same issue happening on my iPhone 6s Plus. Screen goes black, pinwheel comes up and then I'm asked to enter my pin and then my phone goes back to the home screen. I was running a developer beta (can't remember which one, they happen every week) up until a week ago when I did a clean install of 10.2. I did the clean install because my battery was draining REALLY fast (losing 25% reading for 30-45 min 1st thing in the morning). Battery issue is a little better, but now I get this black screen, pin wheel, log back in issue at least a few times an hour. It's annoying. Looks like I'll have to go back to the developer beta.

I am having this issue with my Iphone 6Plus. Apple replaced with a new phone as they could not find an issue and the problem persists. I did use icloud backup and they are claiming that the issue is with back up. After seeing this post It looks like lot of folks have this issue. is this issue with Iphone6plus in general or issues with IOS10 or an issue with an App or something else. What is the resolution ?

I have the same problem with 6plus.

Black screen spinning wheel twice in a week.

I was texting something and boom.

No way to turn it off in the usual ways. I had to hold down power and home button. The screen powered off almost immediately BUT I had NO way to power it back on.

I had to restore via iTunes!

I never had this issue before with other ios version.

If it'll happen again I'll try regina's tip.
