Flickering on Netflix after Sierra update

Since updating my MBP 13 yesterday there is a massive amount of flickering when watching Netflix in full screen mode. Updating Silverlight did not resolve the problem.

Has anyone a possible solution for this?

Thanks

Because it has been more than 2 months since I observed the problem and I reported it via Apple feedback, but it is still unsolved, I decided to contact AppleCare.

They were very helpful and friendly, and they finally identified the problem:

The flickering appears only when the subtitles are on and it happens every time the subtitles appear on the screen. If you disable the subtitles, or if you watch a scene which has no subtitles, there is no flickering.

They told me that they are working on this and it will be fixed in a future update of macOS. They were not able to specify if it will be fixed in the next update or afterwards, but it will be fixed after all.

Fingers crossed. 🙂

This problem was happening to me, I went at apple and they ran tests on my computer only to tell me everything was fine after a wait of about 4 days... anyway, I got my MBP back (same model as everyone) and the problem was suddenly gone for a while, until last night when it began again.. posting here to let everyone know I'm experiencing it again if somehow anyone was able to figure out a solution.

I am also experiencing this problem in my brand new MacBook pro early 2015 running MacOS sierra 10.12.1. I have not changed the default settings of display.

I can confirm that this problem has not been corrected and the flickering is happening with both Safari and Chrome. I cannot check Firefox, because I have not installed Firefox in my mac. At first, I freaked out and I thought that there was a hardware problem, but I am relieved now that this is probably due to an error in the drivers of the video card.

Apple, please fix it!

PS1: I am running Netflix in HD, if this is of any use.

PS2: The flickering can be appreciated better, if you watch Netflix in full-screen in a dark room, when dark scenes are on display. Sometimes, it's subtle, but existent and annoying. I prefer not watching in fullscreen than seeing this flickering.

I had this problem as well and after a while I noticed that the flickering went away if I wasn't watching in full screen mode. With some more googling I discovered that flux was causing the flickering. I imagine that people watching netflix during the day - when flux is inactive - are suddenly irked when their movies start flickering and displaying artifacts after sundown...
