what would be your purpose of responding

I would have thought that was quite clear: I wrote telling you what was required for us to help you.

Apparently you are not one of the people who has solved this problem. Therefore you are void of information needed to solve the original intent of this discussion, getting iPhoto to work on Sierra as some have reported is possible.

Well there's faulty logic. It is not at all necessary for me to have solved this issue in order for me to assist troubleshooting it. Believe it or not, I've assisted several thousand people when they've had iPhoto issues over the years and with some considerable success. And I was willing to help you too.

That inclination has now passed however.

missing 5 point rating data

The ratings in iPhoto were converted to keywords during the migration to Photos. Keywords are nearly universally supported by DAM (digital asset management) applications whereas ratings are not. Thus more compatible with other apps.

missing manual control of Collections/Events;

That's what albums are for. During the migration from iPhoto to Photos the Events were converted to albums in the folder titled "iPhoto Events". In them you can control any way you want.

Photos has far greater editing capability that iPhoto, particularly with the 3rd party External Editors For Photos from the App Store.

They should have warned users before the upgrade. My Aperture and iPhoto program have become useless, but it installed Photo program and automatically transferred my pics from iPhoto into it.

One thing though, upon activation Photo program, the screen will ask you to upgrade storage to min. 12Gb (not free) for Photo to work. I just clicked canceled and it worked just fine and I use photo as normal. I don't need more than the free 5BG.

My Aperture and iPhoto program have become useless,

Aperture and iPhoto will work on Sierra, if your version of iPhoto or Aperture can be updated. You need iPhoto 9.6.1 or Aperture 3.6. You can update, if the version you own is in your Purchases history at the App Store. In that case you can update by reinstalling. See: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-8431

In the long run some system update will break Aperture and iPhoto completely and only Photos will work, but I like to be able to open my old libraries in Aperture, to see the metadata I assigned or to be able to use the Aperture editing tools.

My biggest issue with Photo is that when I transferred everything over it didn't keep them organized by Events, which *****.

All the old events should appear in the Albums section, in a folder "iPhoto Events". is this folder missing?

I cannot seem to fix red-eye anymore either?

Is the Red Eye tool missing, or does it not work for you? You should be seeing the tool in the Edit panel:

User uploaded file

Lastly, I HATE the fact that you cannot delete photos anymore?

You can delete photos - select the the photos to be deleted and enter the key combination command-delete ⌘⌫

What is happening, when you try this?

The red eye CHOICE is there, but when I try to click and drag over the eye, like I used to, it stays as an arrow and doesn't do anything?

I do NOT have an old events section? Only something that says Memories and it's not the same at all.

Okay thanks for the delete command, what a pain that you have to search and ask to find out how to do that in the first place.

If Photos created event albums, the will be in a separate folder among your other albums.

Reveal the sidebar with the key combination option-command-S ⌥⌘S, then scroll down to "Albums". Is there a a folder called "iPhoto Events"?
