Hello !
Please open a video and run it . hold control key ( don't release it ) and simultaneously double click on the centre of the video a small pop - up window appears , choose picture in picture , press command + W to remove the unwanted back ground .
You can also drag and drop PIP in four corners , slightly enlarge the PIP by taking the cursor on corner by using drag and drop method . to bring the video normally once again double click the video .
A screen shot for reference .
Thanks !
Wow!!
Thx DB, please help me more with hope to make this happen! Watching the World Series Game 6.
Still having absolutely no luck using PIP for live news, sports or ANYTHING. Only thing I was able to get Sierra to work was the Apple Keynote last week.
This is bad, very, very bad
Thx TYGB,
Another Saturday in the office and I want to watch sports in my office and I still cannot figure out Sierra.
Are you saying that I must run YouTube to watch ESPN college football? Just tried that and many of the games I want to watch are not available even for $$$.
This is getting very frustrating and I would think I am not the only one having this problem.
When you use PIP on my TV, click PIP and you are done
On the much marketing Apple Sierra, it is impossible.
Hopefully Apple and others will fix this and also make it very, very easy.
Back to the ole fashion was to watch sports on my Mac.
Thx in advance for any help.
Fred, I've tried to explain this on more than one occasion but I'll try once more. First of all, TVs and computers are two different things. TVs receive TV signals, computers do not. To use PIP in Sierra first of all the stream has to be formatted for HTML5. Many sites/networks do not. They use Flash or Silverlight or some proprietary format. Most networks do not make everything that may be available for television available for computers.
Unless all networks start streaming all their content in HTML5 you will never get "everything" you want. That has nothing to do with Sierra or Apple "fixing" anything.
Very true , I agree with you .
DB,
I do not want to shoot the messenger, as you have been awesome with all your help and answers.
Does this mean we have to be happy with what Apple is advertising and marketing about Sierra's PIP feature. I understand all you say, but I have been a loyal Apple use since 1980's and why market this Sierra/PIP feature that requires all the "excuses" you mentioned.
Never seen anyone promote a product that only works some of the time.
Not good.
I will try again next weekend for college football games.
Again, I understand all your reasoning and Thank You
Fred, I really thought you would finally understand but I obviously was overly optimistic.
From Apple's support page…
Open a video with any app that supports Picture in Picture, such as Safari or iTunes. Safari supports Picture in Picture with webpages that use HTML5 for video playback, such as YouTube and Vimeo.

Instead of beating a dead horse, you should contact the networks you would like to use Picture in Picture with and ask them to stream in HTML5.
Picture in Picture in Sierra works just as advertised 100% of the time.
As I've tried to explain before, in order to use PIP the site has to broadcast in HTML5. ESPN is still using Flash. I'm watching the Michigan State vs Penn State game live as I type.
Been six months since the much publicized PIP feature in Sierra came out and once again CANNOT get PIP to work with ESPN.
What am I, Apple or ESPN doing wrong.
I can get YouTube to work, what about ESPN streams?

Oh well, my guess is until ESPN changes from Flash it ain't ever going to work, which *****.
That's correct. PIP requires HTML5.
Now watching the Master's and was hoping the Mac OS Sierra's PIP function would work for me...
NOPE!
Sad, this continues to not work for most all live TV stations/streams.
Let CBS Sports know.
