Yes, unchecked are skipped during normal track to track playback. This is one reason why using the check flag is a poor sync selection control. Much better to use playlists.

Thanks for these steps and sorted the issue out.

I did notice that if I have my iPhone 6s with iOS 10.0.2 connected to my PC with Windows 8.1 that iTunes can sometimes play random songs from different albums even when shuffle is turned off and even when you click on the ">>" button for the next track.

This may be a bug? Apple please resolve this.

In the Songs view click the heading of the album column until it reads Album by Artist and make sure the little triangle points up for an ascending sort order. Things should now play in sequence in the other view.

Had this very same issue and thanks for your solution. A classic rule breached of 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'.

Apple seem ****-bent on changing things so frequently when it just isn't necessary. And as for the recent iOS update, Steve Jobs must have been turning in his grave on release...

Use the Songs view and the Column Browser. Select an artist in the browser, then sort the songs below by rating.

How do you propose that I repeat the songs from that artist only? Go back and read my question again and stop being lazy.

I often wonder if it is someone's idea of a joke. As soon as you work out how to get iTunes to do what you want it to they change it. 😕
