macOS Sierra with Java.
Remote access for my company relies on Java, as I sign into my remote desktop I am getting an internal MFC error out of Java. Worked fine before the OS upgrade. Any ideas ?

Other remote access users, using Sierra on their Macs, are also reporting this at my firm. However, I don't think it's an issue with JWT, more a general Java issue. There reason that there is not more noise I suspect, is because Java browser plug-ins are not that popular anymore (fortunately). Software, such as CrashPlan, that use Java seems to run fine. In fact that will run without Oracle Java installed.
I have found more bug reports against the Java 8 JDK covering this issue, and it looks as if progress has been made. What is not clear is when a fix will be released to the general public: https://bugs.openjdk.java.net/browse/JDK-8165867
I'm experiencing the same issue when using JWT to access my companies services remotely. Has anyone had success with a certain version of JAVA?
I had this too. Think I may have resolved it though.
If you open System Preferences, Java (wait for the console to open)
Then go to Temporary Internet Files - Settings - Delete Files
Close & reopen the browser & hopefully it's resolved!
I have the same issue after upgrading from El Capitan to Sierra!
So frustrating..
Doesn't help in HOBLink JWT
Hello, my name is Richard Walter from HOB. I'm working at our support team
and take care of HOBLink JWT and other HOB products.
That's right there are problems with Apple Mac OS Sierra, Oracle 8 u101/102 plugin
and Safari 10.
All Java applets started with the browser plugin will cause a crash exception
when a key like Shift is used.
Concerning HOB products, especially HOBLink JWT and Mac OS Sierra we provide a solution.
Affected users respectively people responsible for the company IT please contact
support@hobsoft.com with subject 'Sierra' and you will get assistence.
I have the same problem: HOBLink JWT + shift key = crash. I used to be able to get around it by typing in the incorrect password (didn't include CAPS) in the HOBLink JWT pop-up. I the remote session would continue and then I would be presented with my work windows screen showing an incorrect login. In this window I could re-enter my credentials and it didn't crash. That worked for the past few days, but no longer. I can't imagine what has changed in the past few days. Need a fix.
Pressing a modifier key results in a crash of the Java applet (current production release) acknowledged here:
http://bugs.java.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=8166040
My employer use this which is also affected given the common Java applet dependency

It's not fixed yet in Java 9 Early Release but keep an eye on it
I have this issue and I am the IT department when it comes to Oracle and Java and I have this issue as soon as I try and type into a form field in standard Oracle EBS.
Yes i'm facing the same issue that both of you have, and it only crashes when you use shift or ctrl.
It's really messed up because then you can't type your password using remote access, as these days it's required to have special characters in them.
Apple needs to seriously sort this out ASAP, it's impacting macos Sierra for business use. It never crashed like this before on ANY version of OSX since 2007 when i bought my first mac.
I can confirm that the last beta (16B2338c) fixes this and I am able to run Java again.
So far version 10.12.1 Beta 16B2338c of macOS corrected the issue i was having with HOBLink JWT. I'm also running Java 8 U101.
I have similar problems with Java.crashing. I have reinstalled Sierra, deleted Java via the Terminal, installed different versions and problems persist. I have run a script in the Terminal to identify all applications which use Java (not many). The only ones which immediately crash with the error message are the Java Control Panel itself and an accountancy application called MoneyDance.
I saw somewhere a rumour that there could be interference from Rapport Trustee. I un-installed it but it made no difference. I have wasted days on this and other trials trying to find a work around as I desperately need to get to my accounts.
So does the problem lie with Apple or Oracle? Neither seem to be acknowledging it or doing anything to sort it out. Has anyone had contact with either? I have put in a bug report/question to Oracle but so far only an automatic response. The developers of MoneyDance seem to be at a loss to help, although they claim their application works with OS Sierra.
Let me throw a wrench into things... I am running Parallels on a Mac with Sierra. I get the same error message trying to access a program that uses Java in my Parallels partition. I am running the latest version of Java in Parallels. I've tried both Edge and Chrome in Parallels and I have the same problem.
The release version of Sierra has the problem. Running it on a VM will not resolve the issue. The issue seems to have been fixed in Beta 3 of 10.12.1.
