Poor Reception iPhone 7 Plus

Hi,

I recently upgraded to the iPhone 7 Plus and I am getting horrible reception, people can't hear me or I sound muffled, (I had no issue on my 4S or 6 Plus). My provider is the same, Bell Mobility in Canada, and I'm using the phone as I did the others, there is also no case on the phone. I've noticed the signal bars all over the place at times, I know those are not an exact science but they've been very erratic. For the most part I can hear whom I am talking to, but people have a hard time hearing me, has anyone else noticed poor call reception on their iPhone 7 Plus or have a fix for this issue?

Thanks,

JD

I'm in the middle of downtown Atlanta, practically next to an AT&T cell tower. Had constant problems over the past month w/ very low signal strength, dropped calls, and erratic signal strength (4 bars then 2 bars then 1 bar then 3 bars). Lost track of the no. of calls to AT&T tech support. Tried everything - including restoring phone to new phone status. Nothing helped. Once I made this setting change (Settings>Cellular>Cellular Data Options>UNCLICK "Enable LTE") the signal strength immediately jumped to 4-5 bars.

Hello,

I came from a Galaxy s7 and a iPhone 6s +, currently do not have either but upgraded to the iphone 7 then 7 plus. I first noticed my bad reception at work. Now reception isn't the best normally at work but on the prior s7 and 6s+, I could stream Netflix or youtube just about all day long. Ever since I upgraded to the iPhone 7, I cant stream Netflix hardly at all!

Three other reasons I am considering going back to the iPhone 6s Plus:

1.) The picture quality isn't that much different. Unless your one of those people taking SLR pictures and posting the best pics online for people to see or even selling them, for normal family photos and such, there is hardly a difference, the only difference I see is in low light situations, in some test photos, I could see the leaves on a tree on the iPhone 7/+ at night where as I could only see the branches with the iPhone 6s+ but in other cases, I took a picture of myself (not front facing camera) and the 6s+ had let more light in than the 7....

2.) The home button, sure the new home button is cool but I find myself at times pushing the home button with the tip of my finger/nail and it doesn't catch on the iphone 7, of course since the iphone 6s plus has an actually push down button, this is not a problem.

3.) The audio 3.5mm jack. I didn't realize how much of an inconvenience this was going to be! I listen to music and movies a lot while working, and guess what? I cant charge my phone and listen at the same time! So when my battery is dying I have to charge it for 2-3 hours before I can go back to listening. Now of course I bought wireless head phones but today I forgot them at home, so now Im have to juggle the charging and ear buds again. Very annoying!

So with these 4 issues (including the reception) issue, I am truly considering going back to iPhone 6s plus. 😟.

Just got my iphone 7 plus yesterday upgrading from the 6s but now I just realized I made a huge mistake came to work and found no signal at all and battery draining constantly due to looking for service! Wow very disappointing after all these years apple has been around and I feel like I downgraded. The question is now what? It has to be the iphone 7, I am with T-mobile and my iphone ne 6s had 3 to 4 bars strong in the same location.

Same problem here - Copenhagen/Denmark. iPhone 7 Plus 256 GB @ 3 Mobile. Never had any connection problems before. But signal drops like constantly @ iPhone 7 Plus! I have had this phone less than 2 months, of which 1 month has been in 'repair'.... they would NOT admit that this phone is faulty. Tried EVERYTHING. New SIM card, they even told me I could NOT use my iCloud or my iTunes backup. Nonsense! Everything worked at my iPhone 6. And NOTHING works at my iPhone 7 Plus!

Best,

Sune/Denmark

I have this very same problem. I am now on my third iphone7 Plus (as a result of going to the genius bar twice), and no one can adequately hear me when I call them. I have to use my spouse's phone to make my calls (regular iphone 7). I have ATT. I switched out the sim card to a T-Moble sim card (from another phone) and had the very same problem. I don't know what to do! I paid a fortune for this phone, and I can't make phone calls to do my business.

Same issue here. I am a physician, and need this phone to be able to return calls in short order. I now cannot call or be reached over large Verizon coverage areas that weren't an issue with my 6plus (which btw I had to abandon because of display problems). I get the same issue with other parties not being able to understand me. I am headed to the Apple Store today.

Unfortunately I feel the same way about Apple. I have 4 phones in my family. 2 sevens, 2 sixes (actually an old 5c too). The sixes at my house show 3 bars with 3G or LTE. The 7's are 1 or 2 bars with wave lines. My brother in laws Samsung has full service. If an update does not fix this, or if Apple does not admit a problem, I will move to Android

Hi,

I have this problem too. I brought the iPhone 7 Plus 2 weeks ago in Sydney (carrier Vodafone AU)and had this problem since. Constantly call failed and 4G signal never exceed 4 bars.

Most of time , i can see 2 bars signal but during the calls, other party can't hear me although the speaker is OK.

Sometimes i even have the restart the phone as i was stuck on the call failed screen.
