macOS Sierra freeze on iMac late 2009 using Safari

There seems to be a long history of this issue with no resolution. Unfortunately I am also experiencing this issue. I hope someone posts a fix soon.

Additional issues are that when I go to https://att.yahoo.com/, after scrolling for several times, the beach ball appears and I cannot open anything on the page.

Another issue is with Safari open, some of my bookmarks in bookmark folders have been rearranged.

Another issue is when I have Safari and Word 2008 opened, and I open a new document, there appears behind the new document a white document devoid of anything. Same size as the document, but entirely white. And when I close the document, the white remains. I have to quit Word.

Now, some will say that Apple is not responsible for third party applications, like Word for example. But if there are enough issues that Apple does not choose to repair, then there will be Apple customers who quit Apple and buy a PC.

The issues with Safari have to be fixed. I am amazed Beta testers of Sierra did not catch and report these problems prior to release.

Just got this response from my bug report. Duplicated report, so probably they are already trying to fix it.

I have the same problem with iMac 21'' late 2009

Yes, I have the ATI Radeon HD 4850 512 MB

I open Safari, then I open Word 2008, then I get a Word document on the desktop in front of a white rectangle the size of the word document. This white rectangle will remain on the desktop until I close Word. This has starated to happen when I upgraded to Sierra.

When I create a file or folder and name it at the time of creation, I cannot rename the folder or file until I restart my iMac. This is extremely frustrating. Restarting my iMac several times a day. Closing Word 2008 everytime I open a new document, sometimes an existing document. Where are the Apple Mac OS beta testers?

Ya know, I don't have an iPhone, I don't have the need for complex Mac OS. I want to protect my iMac, and I understand the best way to do this, to best provide security, is to upgrade whenever there is an upgrade. But I am flummoxed. Anyone know how I can safely restore OS X Yosemite? Without knowing when Apple will fix Sierra, or offer to "simple" users a simple edition of Sierra, I'm thinking I am better off restoring Yosemite and buying a security package. What is the best security package, Norton, McAfee, other?

Should Apple announce macOS Sierra 10.12.1 us not compatible with our iMacs, or should Apple fix the problem with an update?

Oh, using Safari 10.0.1 does not save my password to this site. Every time I want to post here, I have to sign in. This is because I have to quit Safari and/or restart my "21.5-inch Late 2009 iMac".

I just had a freeze again, though I wasn't using Safari at the time. So it appears that the problem isn't specifically related to Safiri. Had the following programs opened: Chrome, Firefox, Outlook and Bejeweled 2.

As I don't seem to be able to edit my post...

Due to the freezes, I'll be migrating back to 10.11... I'm tired of all the problems with .12.

I have been going for a week or two with the latest versions and have only had one crash... so much improved

I did the same thing and it only freezes in every 2 weeks. Well it is still super annoying but better then it was before on Sierra.
