Logic Pro 9 keeps crashing when I try to save in macOS Sierra.

Never had this problem before, but since I updated to macOS Sierra, Logic Pro 9 keeps crashing every time I attempt to save a new project. At first I thought it was a problem with my iMac (Mid or Late 2012), but it's also happening in my MacBook Pro (Late 2011).

How am I even supposed to work if I cannot save any progress?

Is anybody else experiencing this issue? Do you know how to solve it? Please, help, this is an urgency…

Well put it this way i found out the hard way!


I upgraded to Sierra from El Capitan when i started Logic Pro 9 & went to the pull down menu to open & navigate to a Logic Pro 9 project it just kept crashing the only way i could open a project was to actually double click on the project file itself but then i could not save my project again crashing, so i decided to try to figure out the problem thinking maybe i need a clean install of Sierra.


So i did a clean install on another hard drive to test, my aim is just to get Logic Pro 9 installed nothing else keeping it all clean as possible i did not even sign in during install the cleaner the better, then Logic Pro 9 worked like normal & the most amazing thing is its running like it did in Snow Leopard no more graphics glitches when scrolling through EQ plugin the GUI/Graphics feels powerful, fast & solid again i am loving Sierra now.


I then signed into iCloud & started Logic Pro 9 the crash came back again exactly the same crash so i signed out then Logic Pro 9 worked like normal again, i then stayed signed & just disabled iCloud drive Logic Pro 9 still works like normal so i went back to my main Sierra from El Capitan hard drive disabled iCloud drive now i have Logic Pro 9 working & back to normal.


Also I recommend using Logic Pro 9.1.7 not Pro 9.1.8


Would be nice if Apple fixes this bug!

Hey there! I had this issue too, but I read some answers here at Apple Support and did the following: I turned off the iCloud Drive in System Preferences/iCloud and then restarted my computer. The issue is gone now.

P.S. I also disconnected my audio hardware (M-Audio Fast Track C400). So if the thing mentioned above doesn't work try this as well 🙂

Take some time to read through this full thread also you do not need to do a restart or disconnect anything it is iCloud related.


Maybe the only way to have iCloud & Logic Pro 9 on at the same time is to get iCloud to ignore Logic Pro 9 or vice versa it will be good if someone can come up with this idea like a terminal command or matter of deleting some files or blocking Logic Pro 9 I feel there is something that can be done here.


I am happy you guys have Logic Pro 9 working again.

Logic Pro will not work unless you disable iCloud I know most people knows this means "unchecking iCloud" it really is basic English i bet everyone in this thread knows I meant to "uncheck iCloud"

LMAO someone called Eric Cardenas from Logic Pro forum sent me a threatening message & has just banned me because I posted my fix on there forum I don't even use there forum i just wanted to help people out, he deleted all my posts about my fix & posted my same fix himself because he wants to look cool!..

Haha! Cuauhtémoc who posted my same fix here above me is Eric Cardenas! <--------------- looking to steal the lime light here to!....

No one deleted or banned you because they wanted to take credit.

You got banned because you shouted and called me names. You got a formal warning but continued to insult me via PM.


Important information:

- Disabling iCloud Drive is done from System Preferences > iCloud.

This can have unwanted consequences if you are an iCloud Drive user.


- Deselecting iCloud Drive in Finder > Preferences > Sidebar will hide/remove the iCloud Drive link from the Finder window sidebar.

No files will get deleted from your hard drive.


Those are very different things and I feel that it's important to clarify this in case other Logic Pro 9 users find this temporary fix.

In UK "English" when I say disable its means to uncheck the box! you are making things harder for other people no one is disabling iCloud in the way you are saying! its just the way I worded it meaning to uncheck it how many times do I have to tell you this clearly English is not your language.


You are very confused with my post fix & because you are so confused you think everyone else is confused, no one else is confused every ones know I mean to "uncheck iCloud" your the only person who is struggling here & posting your struggles confusing people! take a breath sit back & have a good look at what you have posted no one else is struggling here only you.


You are probably the only person here who has struggled to understand when I say disable iCloud I simply mean just to uncheck the box you make things hard for yourself & making it hard for other people when everyone else has understood me but you have not.

Do this if you want iCloud & Logic Pro 9 running at the same time! <-------------------------


I spent about 3-4 hours working on a way to get iCloud working at the same time with Logic Pro 9 risking my install i had to go back using Time Machine but all is well again, i tried to use "Script Editor" to have iCloud on the desktop to have access to it but Logic Pro 9 still kept crashing but then i found a simple way to still use iCloud & Logic Pro 9 at the same time.


For those who read the full thread! As you know it took me some time to work out that iCloud was causing Logic Pro 9 to crash some of you have said thanks which i appreciate because i know how important Logic Pro 9 is to people & myself so i have another solution for you appreciative people a thanks is not much to ask from someone.


Using my iCloud fix but make sure you have the iCloud box "CHECKED"in "system preferences" so it is running but remove the iCloud drive from the finder sidebar bar "right click" "Remove From Sidebar" now go to spotlight search & type in "iCloud Drive" do not press enter now just drag the "iCloud Drive" icon onto your desktop! now you have access to iCloud Drive from your desktop which is cool anyways & Logic Pro 9 working at the same time!...


PS: This does not matter now as now we can have iCloud Drive & Logic Pro 9 running at the same time but i have to correct some bad advice & some disgusting manners i have received, i still would of recommend "disabling" "unchecking" (which ever way you describe it) iCloud Drive it is more important to have Logic Pro 9 running at its best over iCloud you would not want spend hours on a project then you get a sudden save crash or any kind of crash because you did not "disable" "uncheck" iCloud Drive your gambling on Logic Pro 9 crashing but it might or it might not crash.


Also if you read back at other peoples posts saying Logic Pro 9 will not work in "Sierra" they like to guess & cross there fingers hoping they are right i think its a COOL THANG!...this is why i don't post on forums people already know everything you can spot spoiled people a mile off the more spoiled they are the more crap & meaningless there music is!...
