iPhone 7 Plus Camera - Pictures are bad

I take the following picture with my new iPhone 7 Plus (only one example).

So as you can see, this is really crap.

What is the problem? Is it a Hardware of Software (10.0.2) issue?

The results of my old iPhone 6s Plus were better...

I sometimes look at past photos taken with iphone 4S, 5S and 6S. Those pictures look nice, good color reproduction, good details. Why do you think Apple sid not show any landscape and colorfull photos in their iphone 7 keynote, like they used to with older models?? They knew that color reproduction is horrible, oil painted and details are crap.

I do not expect a perfect phone, but seriously, I do expect a decent camera!

I think the more people that tweet Apple Support and link this thread in the better, they will notice and not want this across Twitter...

I saw this image on a demo MacBook Pro from an iPhone 7 Plus... Not sure how they did it!!!

Equally some of the images on the demo photos library were blotchy in various lighting conditions but not as bad as what my iPhone produces... between the 6s and 7 there was not much in it at all in terms of details in the photos.

I too am experiencing this issue on My IPhone 7. Sort of "paint daub" effect. Really poor quality compared to my IPhone 5s which had only two thirds the pixels. Is it worth taking the phone back for exchange or will I just get the same. Complete waste of Money as I'm only really interested in the camera and this was the only reason for the upgrade.

Any comments/advice welcome.

So have gone into the Apple store twice now. The first time they said the photos coming from the camera were "blurry" and they replaced the camera on the phone. Got the phone back. Same problem. Went back a week later. The guy there said he couldnt tell if there was an issue because "now that i had told him the images are kind of watercolor-y he might be inclined to see it more that way" At the end of it they replaced the phone entirely, but the photos came out the same. Even the test iphone 7 pluses in the store had the same bad camera quality....

We all need to keep pushing this back to Apple as they are largely ignoring those complaining about this problem. I have a senior support person supposedly escalating as he had never heard of the problem and claimed to be interested in getting to the bottom of it. I sent actual iPhone 5s and 7 comparison shots as well as screen grabs to show him how bad the iPhone 7 images were and to illustrate the "painterly" result compared to the 5s.

he said he would respond today but of course I've heard nothing back despite that promise!

I Hope if everyone affected kicks up enough about it we may at least get them to acknowledge an issue and push for a fix perhaps through the next IOS update.
