iPhone 7 Plus Camera - Pictures are bad

I am using camera+ now with raw enabled as it is a little less cumbersome than Lightroom.

after having compared many photos taken with different apps and different settings and effects I noticed that when taking standard photos with the standard camera app the skin is smeary and water colour like which makes the photo unusable. However when in portrait mode (7plus) the skin of the forground object has similar grain as in the photos taken in Lightroom with DNG enabled and some kind of correction enabled. Even in poor lighting conditions.

The whole Photo thing is becoming more and more mysterious. What the heck did apple engineers think when programing the photo app. I like most people want to quickly take a nice picture like I used to with the iPhone 5 and 5s. Now taking pictures has become a real task due to being stuck with third party apps to get good quality photos.

I have an iPhone 7+ and I've had it for 2 weeks now. I've experience the bad quality since the box has been opened, but I didn't take it in to get checked out due to the fact that people were saying it'd be fixed in an update. All pictures I take indoors are horrible.. My iPhone 5c took nicer indoor photos.(:

I've had this same issue since I got my phone a month ago. I took it in to the Genius bar at my local Apple store this morning. They made no comments on the quality of the photos or anything at all. They were very "dumb" to the issue especially when I told them the stats of the cases I found online on this exact thread. They simply ran a diagnostic test and said we will replace the camera for you. Upon picking the phone up, they said they replaced one of the two cameras due to it being "bad". So far I seem to see a slight difference (better) in quality but haven't got out to test it yet.

😟 it is really bad.

I'm sure this is serial big problem. The year 2016 and Iphone 7 plus taking this kind of bad/poor/error photos. Apple ! you should fix that problem immedietaly... otherwise I also give back my iphone plus 32 gb and taking refund..This is unacceptable...

Are you using DNG instead of JPG in Lightroom?

I understand... DNG of course better than others... but these are all JPG via Lightroom... poors are JPG via iphone's camera app... Im %100 sure camera has serious problems...

Today I took different shots in my work's warehouse from: iphone app, iphone app hdr, lightroom jpg and lightroom dng.

iphone app & lightroom jpg = bad detailed photo, saturated - lightroom's jpg is very similar with less saturation.

lightroom dng = better detailed, more noisy and not saturated

iphone app hdr = better detailed than non-hdr, not as detailed as DNG and saturated.

Pick your poison, one tweak they should do is enable hdr by default or have it under saved camera settings.

Here you can see the difference between iPhone 7plus and Samsung galaxy 7.. The good one is Samsung... I really regret my iPhone now:(

Looks like you have not learned how to adjust the lighting on the 7 Plus.
