Message Read Receipt Bug in iOS 10?!

Hi,

While I have experienced this several times since upgrading to iOS 10 (I had a 6S and now have an iPhone 7 Plus) I am not finding other reports of it which I find puzzling.

I have a few friends who have read receipts turned on. I have long seen (as I should) when they have read my iMessage. However, I am certain the following has happened a SEVERAL times since the iOS 10 upgrade.

1. Several iMessages will show as "read" and the time in a thread. The last will remain as "delivered", never change to "read" yet the recipient will respond to the message messaging claims they have not read yet. Clearly, it was read yet a read receipt isn't displaying for all iMessages. That final message never gets a read receipt, then they resume again as the conversation continues.

2. Just this morning problem two occured yet again so I know I'm not crazy. I sent a iMessage this morning. A moment later it clearly showed "Read 7:14am". I went about my business but it was odd for this person to not respond promptly. I looked back at the thread and now the same message was showing as "delivered". The read receipt was gone.

Well, the recipient was busy and responded an hour later. When they sent their response the read receipt of "Read 7:14am" returned. They had already read it. Why the read receipt appeared, changed back to "deliveried" and then reappeared only when they responded escapes me.

I am positive both of these these have happen several times. I know major changes were made to messaging. I can't imagine I'm the only user noticing this. Thoughts?

I can tell you it was an issue for me back in iOS 9 as well. It also was an issue in iOS 10 Beta as I was testing and I reported it then too as part of Beta. I have also submitted a case to Apple and it still is being investigated. I'm not sure what else to do except wait and see. Mine happened as recent as this morning. It showed a messge was read at 9:02 am and then switched to deivered. The person responded an hour later and it still said delivered. I restarted and wahla it shows read at 9:02 am again.

Ok, so it's a rare issue in a non-critical feature that Apple is aware of. What happened when you restored your phone as new and tested? Did you see the same problem?

I am also having this issue, and I only have read receipts with one person. Sometimes, their read receipts for me will actually turn off, though mine don't seem to. It's so weird.

I'm having problems with my iPhone 6s and read iMessages. Mine will also say read then after a while change to delivered. Is this a common problem, is Apple aware?
