OS Sierra Mac Mail attachments missing

I and others have tried this. It's only a temporary fix. In my case, it only lasted until I moved an email. I have always had Download Attachments set to All.

However, I've seen reports that 10.12.2 beta has fixed this issue.

Are you using MacKeeper or CleanmyMac? If so, please check that Mail Attachments is unticked

This seemed to be set automatically, who invents such helping functions?

I spent three hours talking to a senior consultant on the Apple help line who, after using safe boot and reinstalling my email accounts, told me this problem was (a) unique to me and (b) an issue with Gmail and Yahoo. Attachments appeared in Mail email, downloaded and then ... vaporized, leaving only the paper clip as a reminder that something is missing. Only solutions I have found is to either use webmail via a browser or forward the email with attachments back to me from my iPhone, where everything is visible. Very frustrating, not least Apple's denial!

My Mail preferences, download attachments were set to Recent in Account Information. Will try changing to All to see if that changes anything.

I also spoke to Apple. The real issue is that there is a real defect in the latest release. No tricks are going to fix this. It is a huge problem for us that receive attachments with most every email. Some come through and most do not.

I have to download all attachments via my iPhone and save back to my Mac.

I have not explored this systematically, but it's my impression that the attachments are actually on the Mac, but are not displayed in Mail. I have found a couple of attachments via the Finder. Mail doesn't make it easy to find an attachment, but it can be done.

That's not a solution to the issue, of course. But it bodes well for older emails showing their attachments once 10.12.2 is out. Reportedly the beta fixes the issue.

BTW, it boggles the mind that engineers working on macOS know about this but the phone staff doesn't.

I haven't used the beta, so I was only reporting what I read elsewhere.

Oké what i do is postbox>rebuild mail but this not a real solution but you see your attachment after a few seconds, you have to do this a few times a day. I have the same issue i have a IMAP account i can't see pdf file's, you have this paperclip icon but there is no attachment.

Apple is really slipping to allow such a major issue go un resolved for so long..

Is there any way to escalate this issue?

I think this must be a system issue, not easily fixed by a minor bugfix in Mail. So it has to wait for the next macOS version, 10.12.2. I've read that the bug is fixed in 10.12.2 beta.

I just today got an e-mail to my POP account, but from an iCloud account, and the attached photo wasn't visible in Mail on my iMac, but was visible in iCloud Mail viewed in Safari.

What helped for me was to shut down Avast (virusscanner) e-mailshield after that my problems with disappearing attachments was gone. For me this helped.

Installed macOS update 10.12.2 today. Seems the problem has been fixed. Attachments that were missing in my Sent emails, are no longer missing.

Was that Beta or is it an update? Not available here yet. (UK) apart from beta perhaps released in US already?
