OS Sierra Mac Mail attachments missing

The attachments are missing again this morning. Should have known it was too good to be true. WTH?!?

I have found that I can pick up my emails in Outlook on a windows computer, the attachments are visible in outlook. I can then send the email back to myself and the attachments are then visible on the mac?!?!

It is the same problem with preview. It appears that safari and preview have lost the connection to mail!

That's not happening for me. I didn't have the Share button in my toolbar, but the File > Share menu looked normal. I added the Share button to my toolbar and it shows all the usual Share options, including Email this page.

are they not coming at all or just not shown in the mail?

In my experience, the attachments are always visible in iCloud mail viewed in Safari. I have also found attachments on my Mac, with the Finder. (Mail doesn't make that easy.)

But so far no suggestions have made the attachments visible in Mail except temporarily.

Are you writing about the issue of missing attachments in Mail or the entirely different problem of missing Share options?

Or are you saying they're related?

In my searching for a fix for my problems with sharing there seemed to be a common thread that the issues may be related somehow. I don't know. My issue was definitely not with attachments I ended up on this thread looking for a solution to my problem.

Hi I found my solution

Mail Preferences >accounts > account information > download attachments - change to all instead of recent or none

I am using Outlook until it's sorted; but I think I will do a clean install soon . . .

I migrated from Outlook to Mail as it kept crashing and rebuilding identity until I had so many identities I forgot who I was 🙂

This was driving me mad, especially when it's been so hard to find any information for such a major issue, but I found the solution further down which seems to have worked and wanted others coming here to prominently see:

Mailbox > Rebuild (your Inbox... or each mailbox you need I guess...?)

They said afterwards in Mail > Preferences > Accounts that Download Attachments was set to None, so they had to set it to All, but mine stayed on All and now my attachments seem to be all appearing fine again. Fingers crossed!
