At the bottom of each voicemail transcription there's and option to click "helpful" or "not helpful", which opens a box to submit the transcribed conversation to Apple, "to be used to improve the quality of speech recognition in Apple products". Looks like Apple is wanting to expand and/or improve their "speech recognition" capabilities....maybe for SIRI, and using automatic voicemail transcription to do that?
Hi
Go to settings -Accessibility turn voice off.
Cheers
Brian
You cannot turn this off.
Voicemail transcription is in beta right now. Apple does not see what you are shown.
Thank you for the response, but none of my voice settings are on. 🙂
Thank you! It's really not about what Apple can and can't see, its just annoying as heck, I think 🙂
Frankly, I like this feature. But I know not everyone will.
You can provide feedback to Apple to let them know you would like to turn it off, or make it optional, or whatever you wish to do by going to their feedback site here, http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html They do not participate here in the forum, so they would not see your original post.
To be honest, I, like sberman, like the feature, so I don't have to listen to the voicemail right away, and can determine if it is something I need to address right away. This is especially convenient at work.
It may be a useful feature, maybe I just need to get used to it. 🙂
Thank you for the link! Very good points about its usefulness.
Agreed. In addition it is often garbled and doesn't make much sense. And then I have to find my glasses to read it . . while likely a nice feature it needs an 'off' option.

Posting here will not help. You need to use the feedback link provided earlier to let Apple know how you feel.
I agree that it needs an off function - I can do without it and would like to turn it off.
Yes it is nice to see what the voicemail might be about. However, on my phone I have to hit play a few times. When I hit the play arrow it closes the message. Then I have to click on the message again to re-open it. I click on the arrow and the message closes again. Very frustrating. I've actually just said screw it and called the person back!
I've seen a couple of other posts about people having trouble playing messages, but I'm not sure it is related to the transcription. Voicemail is a carrier function, you can contact your carrier and ask them if they will reset your voicemail. That should take care of the issue.
I find the transcription beta very annoying and I want to get rid of it. Is it something I can ultimately be charged for? If so,then I definitely would like to get rid of it if that's possible.
Please advise
