How do you input the Apple ID verification code on a macbook? (Mine is OS X Lion 10.7.5)

Hi!

I'm trying to set up my apple ID on my macbook - I open System Preferences - mail, contacts, calendars, click - iCloud - prompted to enter the password for my apple ID.

Then, I receive a pop up message that states: "An Apple ID verification code is required. Type your password followed by the verification code shown on your other devices."

The verification code DOES come thru on my iPad. BUT! I do not have anywhere to input the code on the macbook!

Please help me~ Thank you for any help you can offer.

I also have the same problem in regards to signing in to iCloud on my Mac:

1. I open system preferences and click on the iCloud icon.

2. It asks that I sign on to my iCloud

3. I type in my apple ID and password on my mac (There is a field available to type in my apple ID and password)

4. The two-factor authentication sends a message onto my phone.

5. In system preferences I am asked to type in my passwords followed by verification code. However, there is no field available to type in the Apple ID and verification code. No box pops up are available.

I signed out of the iCloud account to do it again several times and the field.

I am now unable to sync my calendars on my Macbook Pro from my iPhone and iPad. This has occurred since I turned on the two factor authentication on my Macbook Pro.

Would you be able to provide a more technical response in regards to this query?

I am aware of how to sign in using the authentication code, but there is no field (space) available to do this. This is a glitch in the system that requires a more technical support other than "Again, on a Mac, you type the verification code in immediately after the password in the same box. There is no separate place to type it in."

There is no place to enter a password.

1. I tried to purchase a song from itunes.

2. I got the msg on my iphone "Type your password followed by . . ."

3. There is no place on itunes nor on my imac nor my iphone nor any other of my devices to enter a password.

I get that the code comes after the password, but this is meaningless if there is nowhere to enter the password

(I'm running 10 10 5 on an imac 2011.)

Thanks

I'm following this thread and trying to follow directions for the same problem. When I go to the iCloud system preferences box and click "Sign out" (to get out of this crazy loop), I get a box that says "If you turn off iCloud Drive, all documents stored in iCloud will be deleted from this Mac." Then, the only options are cancel or delete from Mac. I have checked iCloud Drive to stay on...I am sure that there is an easy solution for this, but I can't find it! I am running OS X Yosemite 10.10.5. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Click on the box "Delete From Mac". They aren't getting deleted from iCloud, just from the Mac. They will re-download when you sign back in.

Signing out of iCloud removes all iCloud-sync'd data from the Mac or device - Notes, Calendars, Contacts, iCloud Drive data, etc. That's so if someone else signs into iCloud on that Mac or device, they have their own iCloud stuff there - not yours.

It is safe to sign out. You can check to make sure that iCloud has everything you think it should before signing out by going to iCloud.com and checking the various apps.

Cheers,

I'm having the same problem on my Mac Book Pro.

Just a note, if you press OK, the verification will disappear so it will not be wise to do that. However, what everyone is trying to say is there isn't a field that will allow you to retype password and adding the code.

I tried doing that and ever keystroke gives me a rejection noise. Tried clicking on the little window that asks for a verification code and typing on it. Same thing. rejection noise.

I love Apple because it anyone can learn it without a lot of work. This is too much work just to plug in some numbers.

Any other suggestions?

The key thing people forget to tell you is that you have to log out of your account. Once you log off you can log back on. This will give you two fields. Name and password. In the password filed, you'll enter both your password and the code that has sent to your other device (PHONE). Enter the password and code with NO space between them.

So simple but such a pain .

(This is my first post in more than five years... I was an active user on these forums).

I spent an hour reading this entire thread to address my similar problem. The main problem I had was the darn verification code thing. On the Mac, there is no field for the verification code and while the instructions provided on the pop up screen on other trusted devices says to enter the verification code right after the password, it wasn't working for me.

Until I studied this entire thread.

My problems centered with logging in with my Apple ID but spanned through the iTunes Store, App Store, and iCloud, all on my Mac. By the way, I'm using an 11-inch MacBook Air (Mid-2011) running Yosemite 10.10.5.

Here's what I did and my experience:

0.First I went to System Preferences to configure iCloud. Someone on this thread said to log out and log back in. Apparently I was never signed in to iCloud to begin with on my Mac because of the failed login issue. So I attempted to login to iCloud with my Apple ID and password and you know what happened? A new dialog box popped up with a field to enter the verification code! Upon doing that, I was able to complete iCloud login successfully.

0.Second, I proceeded to iTunes so that I could complete my business there. I was trying to access my account but could not because you know why. Previously I was unsuccessful. But after doing the previous step, and then logging in, I followed the directions provided by someone on this thread which was to first input your User ID and password,, click log in, and wait for the verification code on your other trusted device. When you get the code, go back to your Mac and delete the password you just put in and re-type the password followed by the verification code after it, with no spaces and on the same field as stated in this thread. There was no pop op box for a verification code like with iCloud setup, but it worked this time and I was able to finally get into my iTunes account.

0.Finally, the App Store where I had been trying to download OS Sierra to upgrade my software. Of course, I wasn't able to do this because of the Apple ID verification issue. But because I had done my step one of going to System Preferences to setup iCloud first, I was now able to successfully log in to the App Store following the procedures in step two above.

Sadly, while the solution worked initially, I am back to square one for some reason. I have DSL so downloading OS Sierra at approximately 5GB takes a long time. I left it downloading overnight to find in the morning that it had only progressed 34%. When I came home in the evening to check on the status, I found the download had stopped due to an error. I tried to resume the download and got a"-1004" error notice (which I looked up elsewhere on the Apple Support Communities for a solution but I decided to not bother with it) so I shut down my computer and restarted. Going back to the App Store, I checked for purchased downloads but did not find OS Sierra. I did find it in the updates list as a free upgrade and clicking on the corresponding button prompted me to log in with my Apple ID. I did the trick of deleting the password and re-entering the password followed by the verification code but to no avail.

So? I'm back, in a sense, to where I started! (I even tried to log out of iCloud and start over to reset the successful process I previously had done. I got iCloud up and running again but no App Store access. I didn't check iTunes because I wanted to leave it alone.).

The mystery continues...

I contacted Apple directly via email to share my issue. If they provide a solution not shared here, I will post back.

I FIGURED IT OUT!

"Type your password followed by the verification code shown on your other devices." Is the message you see. We insert it at the end of your password! ok duh we get this after a quick google. The answer to the question you are asking is this:

Exit the icloud preferences by clicking the go back Arrow (top left corner of pref. window), it will take you to System Preferences main menu, and then click the right arrow to go back into the icloud preference.

You now should have the ENTER PASSWORD field again instead of just the stupid message with no where to type.

Now,

Visit https://appleid.apple.com/ and sign in. You will receive a verification code on your secondary device.

Go back to icloud preferences and now insert your password followed by the verification code with no space in-between the two.

Ta da! =)

I am on MacBook Air OS Sierra. I am trying to log into iCloud. When I enter my user name and password I get a screen that says someone is trying to log into my account. Enter the code into the website. But there is no place to enter the code. It just goes back to login screen. I tried to enter the password with the code directly behind with no spaces and it says wrong password entered.
