How do you input the Apple ID verification code on a macbook? (Mine is OS X Lion 10.7.5)

You are probably right based on your OS but not everyone is using the same OS version you are. I am using Yosemite on my MacBook Air and Snow Leopard on my MacBook Pro. I am planning to upgrade to Sierra on my Air soon.

I have the same issue. Once I type in my iCloud password and press "login", the box disappears and I get send the Apple ID verification code on my phone but there is no longer any box on my mac where I can type in the password.

The issue is on my Mac: I don't get a box where I can type in the Apple ID verifiaction code which I receive on my iPhone. My iPhone works perfectly, it's my Mac that doesn't provide me with a box where I can type in the code. I got around the issue by removing the second factor verification, but of course this is not an ideal solution

Sorry - misread your post. OK, so it sounds like you need to completely sign out of iCloud System Preferences>iCloud, and then when you sign back in, it will provide you with a way to input the password and the verification code.

Turning off two-factor authentication was the best thing I ever did. I don't think it's really necessary as long as you have a strong password. If it worked easy and was straightforward process for everyone, then it would be fine. But it seems a lot of people have trouble with it and the solution provided here doesn't always work the same for all users.

The irony was that in order to turn off the verification process you must login to your Apple ID and then to gain access to your account and settings, you must enter the verification code. As long as you get the new dialog box that gives you six empty boxes to enter the code, then you're in business. (For me as a blind user, entering the numbers was not as easy as it sounds and a third call to Apple Support revealed that blind users do indeed have problems with entering the code so I had to get a sighted personn to enter the code for me and then it finally worked and I gained access to my account and finally turned the ****** verification process off!).

Sorry, not understanding. You need to sign out, which should not ask for a password. Then sign into iCloud again, and it will send the verification code and you should have the password box to type in your password and verification code together.

When I did put the verification code into the password spot after my password I got a message that said the password was incorrect. I ended up signing into this site which also made me add the text numbers in a separate space and then it worked. How odd.

Hi - Also having this problem. Nowhere to type the code. Have tried entering the password again with the code tagged on the end but doesn't work. Very poor by Apple's standards. Thanks in advance if you can help. Cheers

I enter my Apple ID password when I'm asked to enter my iCloud password, then I'm asked to, "Type my password followed by the verification code shown on your devices." There is NO OTHER text box to enter anything after that.. you can hit "OK" which then brings you back to the iCloud screen that asks you to type your password followed by the verification code shown on your other devices." SO again, is there anyone on here that can specifically answer this question other than vague generalizations?

What button do I hit to bring back up the text box to enter my password followed by my three digit code? I can sign out or go to account details.. that is all. The only thing to enter in account details in a description.. again, this is super confusing.

I've done this 20 times and it doesn't work. I put in my password, and then I sometimes get a new code, put that number in behind my password and it tells me my password is incorrect. I'm about to give up on Apple -- been trying to resolve this for weeks. HELP!

I signed out of iCloud.

On signing back in on my Macbook I DID get a verification code, AND a field to enter it so assumed I was back in action. But when I went back into iTunes to purchase a movie- the reason this started- I'm met with the same situation. I got a warning on my phone that someone's trying to sign in, a verification code, the BUY button still greyed out, and nowhere to enter the verification code.

This is stupid.

What step am I missing?

I totally agree this is a huge shame on Apple to make such ridiculous user interface and waste tons of our time.

my case was my iPhone 5s running iOS8. when no field to input verification code happens, press the "retry" button, then input "your iCloud password"+"verification code", no space in between.

okaaay - I get that I syould type the Apple ID Verification Code directly after my password HOWEVER - NO pop up or field is shown to type anything in at all......
I've read this thread a couple times and I do not see where any answer addresses the lack of field to type the password and code. 😟

There have been several solutions posted on this thread. That's why it is marked "Solved" and the selected "Solved" solution appears at the top of every page. If your issue is that you can't see a box to type in your password plus the verification code, then try doing what the post directly above yours tells you to do.

Apple, of course, does not reply here. This is a user to user technical support forum, and one of the solutions given here should work for you.

But you have to read the responses.

yes - exactly NO place to type the **** thing is shown anywhere. What a pain.... I rarely use this machine but have the HONOR of Apple screwing me over EVERY time I try to use it.

Is there a solution that WORKS?
