not getting reminder notifications with ios10

I'm not getting reminder notifications with ios10, which is very frustrating! I've already missed some important work things because I don't get prompted. I looked under "Notifications" in settings, but Reminders is not an option.

When I'm on my macbook, I get them, so why aren't they showing up on my phone? This is a feature I use several times a day and not having it is VERY frustrating. I'm really hating ios10 so far.. don't even get me started on my battery life since the update. 😟

I am having the same problem with iso10.2 and macOS 10.12.2.

I am wondering if this is a multiple device issue. I am logged into a iPhone, iMac and MacBookPro and only one device is getting the notifications (normally the one I am not looking at).

It is happening with Reminder and Calendar notification as well.

Right now the only fix is using alarms instead.

I've had the same medication reminders (two per day) across multiple iPhones I've owned since 2013. They've worked without a problem until I upgraded to iOS 10.2.1. If I remember correctly, I upgraded from 10.1. (I never upgrade right away for critical things like a phone.) iOS 10.2.1 has generally been stable for me, except for one very important thing: my medication reminders usually go off on my phone, but some days they don't. Even when they don't go off on my phone, they go off on OSX, so it's definitely only a bug in iOS.

Missing this medication reminder could be disastrous for me. Can anyone recommend a more reliable app I can use until Apple gets around to fixing this problem?

As it's a problem that only a small subset of user are having, there's a good possibility that it's not something fixable by Apple or, if it is, it's far down the list.

There are hundreds, if not thousands of reminder programs in the App Store. I use an app specifically designed for medication reminders called Medisafe. It can also be set to remind you to refill your medications and it keeps a record of whether you took them or not. Alarmed+ by Yoctoville is another great app for setting recurring reminders. Neither of these apps are "to do apps". However, one simple solution might be to use the alarms in the build in Clock app. You can change the name of the alarm so that it tells you "Take bp medicine" or "Take vitamins".

I have the same problem, too, with an iPhone 6S and iOS 10.2.1. The symptoms are the following:

1) I have stopped receiving the notifications from the Reminders app on the iPhone but I keep receiving the notifications on my macbook (same apple id).

2a) I have then checked the Notifications settings and I have discovered that the Reminders app is not in the list of apps with a Notification settings.

2b) After the update of the previous iOS version to the 10.2.1 version the Reminders app Notification settings reappeared and the notifications restarted to work for a while (a few weeks?). Then they stopped working again and the notication settings disappeared again

3) I realized that also the Calendar notifications were not issued anymore

4) I have check the Notification settings and also the Calendar app was no more in the list of apps with a Notification settings.

It looks like a software bug which causes some overwriting of the memory

I'm another person who is seeing this issue, and it is becoming a real problem as I'm never quite clear what notifications I will get, and which will be missed. I'm no longer able to rely on my iPhone for my calendar alerts. I've checked the notification options described here in this thread, tried to toggle some of the settings suggested, restarted my phone etc,

I have an iPhone 6s and running 10.2.1, this problem started after the ios10 upgrade.

I see no consistency among events that were created prior to the upgrade or after, single events, repeating events etc...

For some calendar events which are sent to have a reminder, there is simply no reminder at all. Nothing audible, nor anything in the notifications center, it's like they never fire off and don't exist.

Toggling notifications on/off for calendar, and restarting the iPhone might help for a little while, a day, etc...

Apple - this is quite broken and deserves a fix!

thank you

Hi,

I can inform you that with the 10.3.1 update the problem is fixed, both for the calendar and the reminders but this is what happened also with the 10.2.1 update: the problem was fixed for a few weeks and then it appeared again, likely because of a memory corruption. So, unless we are told that an explicit fix for this problem has been deployed, we cannot be sure that 10.3.1 will fix it forever or if we are just profiting of a "fresh restart".

Well, about a month ago, I wound up re-entering all past recurring appointments and deleting the old ones. And I've gotten all of my notifications on all devices ever since, through two iOS updates now (10.2.1 to 10.3 to 10.3.1).

So, in my case, the issue was that recurring/repeating appointments entered on older, pre-iOS 10 versions were no longer working.

Now, if I can find a fix for the other issue I have: invites don't get sent successfully if the the appointment has a location added. The intended recipient never receives the invitation, unless Location is left blank.

After reading lots of replies, I went to Settings -> Reminders -> Accounts and noticed that in addition to my iCloud reminders, it had an exchange account linked from my workplace. I turned the exchange reminders off, rebooted my phone, and the reminders work again.

I get sounds, banner notifications, and lock screen reminders without having to swipe.

Turn off the exchange reminders that sync with your outlook tasks, and maybe you will be working again too.

I'm having the exact same problem, too. I did a reset and it worked the following day, but the next day it failed again. It's a simple daily reminder at the same time every day... why is this so hard Apple? I am an app developer and my own app uses the sun's position to send notifications and it's far more reliable than Reminders!

Well...I've upgraded to iOS 10.3.2, and now I'm back to not receiving notifications/alerts.

The alert I needed to see this morning popped up on my Mac Pro, but not on my iPhone, and Notification Center is empty.

THIS IS MORE THAN MADDENING ALREADY!!!

None of the fixes outlined previously in this thread has worked. Not one. I've tried them all.

So at this point, are there any other calendar apps that DO work to show notifications/alerts? I'd prefer to stay with the Apple app, and I realize I can't make another one default, which will introduce a whole new load of frustration, but I NEED TO SEE ALERTS AND HEAR ALARMS!!!
