Visual voicemail glitches in iOS 10

I am having visual voicemail issues in iOS 10.0.2. The voicemail box keeps closing and the message starts playing but does not finish. I am constantly having to close and reopen the phone app. Resetting the network settings did not work.

Spent an hour on the phone with Verizon today trying to address this problem.. They had me reset network settings and they reset my voicemail from scratch. That didn't seem to make much difference at all. I also tried updating to iOS 10.1 beta hoping that the new software would have fixed it. Didn't make any difference. Still having the same issue on 10.1b. I can say that the Verizon rep so I spoke with genuinely seemed to want this fixed, but didn't really have an idea how to accomplish it.

At this point, Verizon wants me to factory restore my phone and reinstall software, but I'm not sure it's worth the hassle for me. Especially since I get voicemail so infrequently. If anybody else wants to try that and let me know if it works for them, I'd be interested in the outcome.... In the meantime, I think I might just go back to checking my infrequENT voicemail messages by holding the "1" key and checking it the old school way.

I solved this problem on my phone by completely erasing the device and setting up as a new phone. I had to reinstall iOS 10.0.2 (although now you would probably have to reinstall the updated 10.1).

1. I saved all my contacts and photos through iCloud backup.

2. Erased the phone connected through iTunes on my mac

3. I set it up as a NEW phone.

4. Reinstall and set up everything from scratch [big time pain in the neck].

I initially tried it the other way, "Restore from backup", but that didn't work--kept getting the voicemail glitch that way. Setting up as a new phone did work.

It was kind of a pain, because then I had to reinstall all of my apps and ring tones individually. I also had to set up all of my email accounts, etc., all over again. It was annoying, but I haven't had any issues since doing it that way. Hope this helps.

After spending about a million hours with both Apple and ATT, it became apparent that it was caused by a corruption in the iCloud backup. So I also solved it by erasing everything and setting it up as a new phone. It was kind of a pain to re-set all of the little things that are normally in the iCloud backup, but with calendars and contacts backed up to iTunes, it wasn't too painful a process.

Hi,

Having the exact same issue with my iPhone 6S under 10.2 public beta 1 (Orange France)

This issue does not seem to get taken seriously by Apple despite multiple Beta Feedbacks.

Also, can't afford to erase and set up as a new phone, I've got important work texts.

I would really like to see this issue solved, voicemails being painful enough already (getting like 5+ per day) ...

I've tried restoring the phone, and resetting network settings, with no luck. The only thing I've found that works, although temporarily, is deleting voicemails and deleting deleted voicemails. Also swiping and closing the phone app and reopening the app seems to help. Again, temporary solutions. Addition to this post: Since I wrote this I've tried restoring as a new phone. Worked for 2 days. Didn't fix the problem. But here is another solution: Download Google Voice and go to settings-phone-call forwarding. Forward your calls to your Google Voice #. Google voice's voicemail works better than IOS's. The only drawback is that you won't know that somebody called you until you get the voicemail notification.

Hi,

I went the long route, did a hard factory reset completely erasing the iphone 6, connected to iTunes downloaded the latest software and setting it up as a new phone.

Same problem!!!!

Resetting network settings didn't work, nothing works!!

Verizon offered me to mail out a new Sim card. I expected it. Recived it, will see tomorrow if that fixed it. I doubt it.

This is a huge bug and we are being beaten behind the Bush
