Iphone 7 plus camera stopped working

I am having this issue as well. The rear camera on my 7 Plus stopped working. Third-party camera apps that were working also claim they don't have access to the camera.

I have soft- and hard-reset to no avail. I have not yet tried a restore.

I have the same problem with the rear camera only. I took the phone to Apple store, they said they will send it to the central service center to find out. My phone is still on warranty , however it is not for sure they will fix it for free. Apart from that it will take something like a week(!!) to fix.

I left the phone off for about 30 minutes, and when I powered it on the camera started working again. Previous restarts and hard resets had failed to resolve the issue.

I wonder if the issue is perhaps heat related.

I have the same issue. I was on a chat with apple support last night updating, restoring, restarting and anything the tech could think of for 2 hours and it still did not work. I have a genius bar appointment this weekend to possibly get a replacement. I would rather return it and use my iphone 6 if this continues. Blah!

I have the same issu... rear camera not working except for some apps using it normally,,, only selfie cam working.. what can i do to resolve this problem,

IM having this problem, too...it was working this morning & now all of the sudden it's not. what is the most strange is that it DOES work in Pano & time lapse settings, but not in any other setting.

My camera was fine the first weekend I received my phone, front and rear cameras fine and taking stunning pictures. However on Sunday, the camera app just stopped working properly. It would see the picture, but when I clicked to take the photo it either; made the shutter sound but never showed the photo on camera roll or showed a waiting sign on the circle, took a picture which also never appeared. I tried all the usual - restart, resets and restore but if anything, this has made the issue worse. The camera does not register light on any of my pictures if it saves it so they're pitch black. However, the front facing camera works fine and the rear also works in other apps like instagram?! But not in the camera app or messages?

I've contacted Apple Support and they say they've never heard of this issue?? They've said that they will send a replacement but if it is a software issue then surely it's just going to happen again??

My I phone 7 plus flash and camera isn't working tried all reset methods but still it didn't work no damage. This happened all after an update. I gave to service centre they said to pay 27500rs can't effort it. I thought apple will give phone to phone did there is no external damage. I'm an apple user for 3GS never had this kind of problem. I replaced my iPhone 5 for three times for some software and home button issues. I'm very unhappy for 82000 still in warranty of 10mounts. Please kindly help me asking as an apple fan. I still have all my apple phones working starting form 3GS.

It might not be a software issue, so if that what you tried is not working at all you must look to the Hardware side, there might be the camera connector out of it's place so i recommend you go and bring it to a servicing store or an authorized apple store so they can fix it .

When I inboxed it ,it was not working then I updated the software it started working but again it's not working since today morning .. kindly tell us what to do I tried restarting and power off as well nothing working off course i cannot update software every hour

i have this same issue, called apple and they ran diagnostics and could immediately see that the outer camera hardware was failing. they said that this is an issue they have been seeing accross iphone 7 plus cameras in general. since my phone is under warranty they are going to replace the phone.

Had this same problem. First neither camera worked, then the front camera started working but the rear camera still refused to work. Google said all the usual; restart (no effect) -> hard boot (no effect) -> update iOS (no effect). Apple retailer said it would probably be hardware, and they would replace camera at who knows what cost. VZW warranty services offered to start insurance claim, and would issue a refurbished phone. No thanks. Apple warranty tried FOREVER to get diagnostics, but to no avail, phone wouldn't send info. Offered to have me send it in and get replaced. No time for that. Eventually, a full backup to my macbook -> reset to factory settings -> MAGIC! Camera worked. Hmm... -> restore from backup and voila, all data restored, and the camera works. What a hassle.

I had this issue within the first week of having the phone back in Oct! One day, the rear camera just packed in and couldn't seem to get the flash to work. I took it into Apple (I also took some photos prior to going in to prove it just incase it decided it would work whilst in store) and they saw the obvious problem. They told me that they could either replace the phone altogether or they could replace the part within the camera - which they had in store, so I took that one seen as the waiting list for a new one was still outrageous. I just had to book a Genius Bar appointment and Hey Presto! The camera was fully functioning again.

Glad to say, I have had no further issues with it!
