My texts are sent in English arrive in Chinese

I recently updated my iPhone 6 to IOS 10.0.2. Since then, I've had 2 people tell me that my texts that were typed in English are arriving on their end in Chinese (or something that looks like Chinese).

One user has a Moto phone, the other a Samsung Galaxy. I do text successfully to other non-Iphone users, at least to my knowledge.

I've checked the default language on my phone and it is English.

Any suggestions on what could be the cause and solution to this weird problem? Thanks!

TThis sounds like a possible encoding glitch, usually a carrier issue.

Have you tried to send a text to your own iPhone ?

What is the carrier of the non-iphone user? That is more likely a problem than att.

I don't know what the carrier is but there seems to be a lot of postings on here in the last few days with the same issue! I'll try to find out.

Same here. I have had trouble with two people that I text daily. We're all on AT & T but one has Samsung and the other Moto.

My messages did NOT include emoticons, just for the record on this thread, so I don't think thats the issue.
