iPhone Safari deletes my tabs

Lately I've had problems with that the Safari app on my iPhone 5 keeps deleting tabs with internet pages. I can have one or several opened internet pages that I haven't read yet. But the next time I open Safari one or more, and some times none of the tabs have either disappeared or been replaced with a tab with no Internet address and no way to go back. It is extremely frustrating that I keep loosing internet pages that I am postponing to read and I never know which one will disappear next. I can't quite pinpoint when it started but I think it was after tha last major iOS update and it is now happening several times a day. I always make sure I don't have too many tabs opened at the same time so that it's not filled to maximum tab capacity, so that is not the problem.

Hey!

I see that you are having an issue in which your Safari tabs go missing and you have no way of getting them back without re entering the URL. You can try force closing the Safari then relaunching. Force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

You also can clear Safari's history and data. Tap Settings > Safari > Clear History & Website Data. I would also verify that you may not be inadvertently hiding these tabs by tapping the Private button. You may see the Private button when tapping the + icon to open a new tab. Tapping "Private" hides the current tabs and opens a new page with Private tabs.

Have a look at the steps below to learn how to find and recover tabs in your Safari app. iPhone User Guide: Browse The Web

View recently closed tabs. Touch and hold User uploaded file.

Get back to the top. Tap the top edge of the screen to quickly return to the top of a long page.

See more of the page. Turn iPhone to landscape orientation.

Refresh the page. Tap User uploaded file next to the address in the search field.

See a tab’s history. Touch and hold User uploaded file or User uploaded file.

View the desktop version of a site. To see the full desktop version of a site instead of the mobile version, tap User uploaded file, then tap Request Desktop Site.

Block pop-ups. Go to Settings > Safari, then turn Block Pop-Ups on or off.

Thanks for using Apple Communities to post your question. This should have all your Safari tabs visible and organized! Have a nice day.

I'd like to say, I have an issue with Safari deleting bookmarks for no reason. I think it's a serious bug we are talking about, and these issues might be linked. Pity that no one here seems to be paying attention to it.

That being said, I have a workaround in mind for you. You could add pages you postpone to read to Safari's reading list. For that, tap on the sharing icon at the bottom of the web-page in Safari (it looks like a square with an arrow pointing up). In the menu that pops up, tap 'Add to Reading List' (icon with eyeglasses). To access the Reading List, tap the bookmarks icon (looks like a book) at the bottom of the web-page in Safari, and then tap the reading list tab (eyeglasses).

Of course, this could be an exercise in futility, since Safari seems to be deleting bookmarks on a whim. But still, something to consider, instead of having multiple tabs open all the time, which could drain CPU power and battery.

I did everything you suggested, but I keep having the same problem. I can click on links in other apps and ask them to open the web site in Safari, I see that the web site opens a tab. But when I go into Safari later it's not there anymore even though I've seen the tab in Safari several times since I added it.

This is now really annoying and I can't find anything to fix it.

Any luck with solving this problem?

I'm having the exact same issue for a few days now.

Having been using Safari with multiple tabs open the other day, I left the app to use other apps on my phone for a few minutes. When I came back, all my open tabs were gone, my reading list was wiped, and the bookmarks folder I had most recently visited appeared to have its links, but the titles were blank and the links did nothing. I was able to get those links back through my history but could do nothing about the reading list.

Now I still have this problem of Safari only remembering what I have open for a few minutes. If I go to another app for a while or set my phone down and come back to it, whatever tabs I had open (doesn't matter how many), are closed and I'm just left with the new tab page.

This is seriously frustrating. Seems clear it is a bug that needs fixing and not just a one off.

This has started happening to me now also. It is so f'in frustrating. It started the other night before the new update rolled out. My phone started acting funny so I used the reboot function and ever since then my safari tabs keep disappearing. They can disappear after 5 mins or an hour. I've tried everything that has been posted here including a full reset but no luck. Any useful help would be much appreciated. Thanks

I have also been having the same problem. I first noticed it about 3 weeks ago with my iPhone 6. I would open Safari, and all of my tabs would be gone. Last week, I had upgraded my phone to the 7Plus, and am still having the same issue. It is very frustrating, as I see different things that I don't have time to read right at that moment, but am now unable to return to.
