Apple Security Virus Alert Warning Scam

It's a scam. If this happens again, do not call any phone numbers.

Just in case, tap Settings > Safari then swipe down and tap Clear History & Website Data.

I was watching a video on you tube and sounded good so I clicked the link below and then it popped up whach out we have detected 3 viruses. It’s a scam thanks so much for telling me what yo do and what it is

I was on my IPhone 6SE and just clicked on the app (*** Weather App) and it came up I had (6) Trojan Viruses and claimed it was from Apple Support. Looked very legit...but I lost a new desk top a few months ago from being gullible so it had button to fix and make sure up-to-date software or cancel. I hit cancel but I did DELETE app but I searched on safari and was glad I didn't click to FIX. It is getting harder and harder to be able to enjoy social media with fear of these scams out there. I had gotten desktop so I would be able to see better than on my iPhone SE so I can do update for my husband who is a disabled veteran to get his re-evaluation done for increase since he has been at same percentage for over 15 yrs. I thought I would be safer on IPhone but so small to look at all his records. Well I thank God I didn't fall for the scam and they mess my phone like they did my 3 yr old desk top. So now I will save for either bigger phone, tablet, laptop or whatever but will remember to NEVER believe those SCAMMERS. Sad they take advantage of us older ppl that are not computer savvy. Just be careful ppl.

Has happened to me several times. I curiously followed the directions to a website to download and pay for protection. I thought somehow this doesn't seem right. So I exited quickly. That was the second time it happened. Today it happened again and I though it to the wind. Rather I left that page and hoped it wouldn't pop up again. This time I checked google and found your text. It reaffirmed what I thought all along. A SCAM!!

I have, for the very first time in 4 years of iPhone usage, come across this 5 minutes ago. I was on home wi-fi and was playing a game on my phone (it's called 1010). Suddenly a very loud ringing sound (like those old alarm clocks) started with a pop up "Apple: Virus detected on your phone" or something along the line. I knew it wouldn't be genuine so I closed that game.
So this can happen even if you are not browsing any web contents.

When I called the phone number that is in the warning message they told me to wait 20 sec and that I needed to supply an iTunes card. I hung up but are they able to get any data from your phone , such as bank account numbers or passwords? Should I worry about it?

other than harassing you by calling back the number you called them from or them using it to cold call you as long as you did not provide any personal info then they don't have it. They can not "search your phone" or "search your computer" from a web page. It's a scare tactic, don't fall for it.

I just got that on my phone and then I clicked OK and my phone started beeping???!!!

That message is a SCAM. Restart your phone; hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons until an Apple logo appears.

Any such popup message will always be a scam.

Phony "tech support" / "ransomware" popups and web pages

Any and all such web browser pop-ups are scams, plain and simple. There is no way for anyone to know, just because you went to a web site, whether you have an infection or not. That same pop-up, generated by that same web site, would come up on any mobile web browser, OS X, Windows, Linux - all such pop-ups are straightup money scams or phishing for personal information. Ignore any and every single one you come across.

IIt's just a webpage pop up but rather then wanting to sell you something it claim you are hacked or have a virus, it has no more power then you give it by making contact, if you had cleared internet browser cache it would have gone away
