No place to enter verification code in iCloud

Hi. Reset my Apple ID password via iphone after someone overseas apparently tried to use it. Now I'm logging in on my Mac. I can enter the new password and receive the verification code on my phone, but there's no place to enter it in iCloud. It says "An Apple ID verification code is required. Type your password followed by the verification code shown on your other devices." But there's nowhere to enter the code.

So stupid! What do I do?

What they mean is this...

All in one string >>> passwordverificationcode

Password is 1234567aB and code is 7654, you enter 1234567aB7654

THANK YOU AI20! Finally found the steps that worked for those using the MAC version 10.9.5. THIS is how I FINALLY got mine to work. The only correction to the step I had to do to get it to work was the following (see CAPS & BOLD text below).

Steps:

1. Click System Preferences

2. Click iCloud

3. Enter iCloud password (with no code); a notification will get sent to your iPhone or device, click ok.

4. Click left arrow -- (I DID THIS STEP AND IT TOOK ME TO THE SYSTEM PREF. MAIN SCREEN WHERE "ACCOUNT DETAILS" DOESN'T APPEAR. SO I BASICALLY STAYED IN THE iCLOUD SCREEN THAT SHOWS THE MESSAGE TO ENTER VERIFICATION CODE AND I CLICKED "ACCOUNT DETAILS" FROM THERE.)

5. Click Account Details, this will launch https://appleid.apple.com/

6. Enter credentials (iCloud username and password), another notification will get sent to your iPhone or device (this is the one you will use for the verification (password + code) -- (DO NOT USE THE CODE OBTAINED FROM THIS STEP TO ENTER IT ON THE https://appleid.apple.com VERIFICATION PROMPT SCREEN. USE IT WHEN YOU GO BACK TO iCLOUD ON SYSTEM PREF. AND THEN RETYPE YOUR PASSWORD + CODE ALL TOGETHER NO SPACES.)

7. Go back to iCloud and enter your password+code when prompted for verification password

Good luck to all encountering this issue. Love MAC but sometimes simple things get too complicated.

I FIGURED IT OUT!

"Type your password followed by the verification code shown on your other devices." Is the message you see. We insert it at the end of your password! ok duh we get this after a quick google. The answer to the question you are asking is this:

Exit the icloud preferences by clicking the go back Arrow (top left corner of pref. window), it will take you to System Preferences main menu, and then click the right arrow to go back into the icloud preference.

You now should have the ENTER PASSWORD field again instead of just the stupid message with no where to type.

Now,

Visit https://appleid.apple.com/ and sign in. You will receive a verification code on your secondary device.

Go back to icloud preferences and now insert your password followed by the verification code with no space in-between the two.

SO funny how people don't understand the question we are asking. You clearly said, there is no where to type and the guy tells you to type lol.

For those of you who are desperate, try the back/forward arrow approach + the verification code tacked on the end of your normal password. Big thanks to the community for helping. Apple, please do better. This whole thing was super painful and made exponentially worse by having an "enter apple password" box (that I couldn't do anything about!) flash up constantly over the past month every time I did anything on my computer.

Hey if any of you guys are still reading this, first thank you, this thread helped me not go crazy. And 2nd and most important I found out my “date and time” setting was set to set it yourself. If you check and it is, then changing it to “set automatically ” will fix your login problem!!!! I did this on my iPad that I couldn’t get to work and it’s back to normal :)

Bet it works the same if you need to get into your phone. I have Windows so I can’t say about your computer or not. I’m so annoyed I just wasted almost 2 hours and all I had to do was change the time

I have just had this really frustrating problem signing into a new (to me) iPad's app store. You need to go to the settings on the device that is primary, in my case, my iPhone and there will be an option to Update Apple ID Settings. From there you need to approve the new device and then when you try and sign in on the new device you'll need to put in your password and the verification code as others have stated.

Hi- I ended up repeating the process/started over (for the 5th time), only this time when I entered my password I added the verification code from

the previous attempt along with my password- as if it was the last 6 digits on my password. It worked. Apple definitely needs to update the process so that it doesn't leave you so open ended. Hope this makes sense and it works for you!

Hello, I have the same problem. My HD crashed today, my Mac got reinstalled and now I cannot connect to App Store to download apps which I need for work. My iPad and iPhone are showing me Verification Codes, but my MacBook does not have any place where to enter them. As I enter my Apple ID Password, it continues showing "An Apple ID verification code is required to sign in. Type your password followed by the verification code shown on your other devices". What should I do in this case?User uploaded file
