No place to enter verification code in iCloud

Hi. Reset my Apple ID password via iphone after someone overseas apparently tried to use it. Now I'm logging in on my Mac. I can enter the new password and receive the verification code on my phone, but there's no place to enter it in iCloud. It says "An Apple ID verification code is required. Type your password followed by the verification code shown on your other devices." But there's nowhere to enter the code.

So stupid! What do I do?

What they mean is this...

All in one string >>> passwordverificationcode

Password is 1234567aB and code is 7654, you enter 1234567aB7654

Having the same issue with a 2011 macbook pro I was trying to get cleaned off and with a new clean install of Mac OS Lion (since that's the latest OS it will handle). All has gone well until it asked for my icloud username & password and then it sends the 2-factor authenticate password to my other devices but there is NO place to type that code in on this macbook I'm trying to get going.

I've tried the password+verification code and that doesn't work. Any other ideas out there before I have to call Apple and spend an hour on the phone with them trying to help me figure it out?

Any thoughts on why it won't work on my old iPod model #:A1367? I followed your (very clear) instructions to the person you were advising regarding their iPhone 4s but when I do enter the password immediately followed by the six-digit code sent to my other device I simply get the same error message stating either invalid username or password. Thank you in advance.

hi LACAllen,

Th eissue I have is I don't get a message to enter a verification code until after i.e. entered my password. Then once I get a verification code there is no where to enter my password and the verification code in one string. Ironically I had to enter a verification code to get access to this support group. And that worked, its only when I try and log in to .

Here's a screen shot of what I see, as you can see there is nowhere to enter anything! Any ideas?User uploaded file

I do wonder if LACAllen has tried his/her/?? translation of the procedure? I still cant get it to work.

Yes I did and as of that date, the process worked, as has been noted.

"An Apple ID verification code is required. Type your password followed by the verification code shown on your other devices."

There is nothing to fix. Are you reacting to the exact same prompt as the OP? This combination of password and verification code is for a specific set of circumstances. It is a workaround supplied by Apple for older OS levels and apps.

If you read the posts, others who have faced the exact same issue as the OP have found it does work. If you are facing a different issue, state it clearly and without the attitude and we can help.

Where are you being asked for your password? What iOS/macOS level? What app? It's possible an app specific password may resolve your issue.

If you simply wish to whine, maybe this link will be of more value to you. There is no Mr. Apple by the way.

I got the iCloud "enter your password" prompt on my Mac (OS 10.10) and finally figured out that

1) you enter your (new)password and it sends a prompt to one of your other devices (iPhone). And then the same exact window reappears! Frustrating no? Leave it alone for the moment.

2) you get a warning on your phone about a log in attempt. Press "Accept"

3) Your phone then shows you a Verification code.

4) enter that code only -- with a space between the two sets of 3 numbers -- and your set.

Frustrating yes. Will Apple fix it? No.
