No place to enter verification code in iCloud

Hi. Reset my Apple ID password via iphone after someone overseas apparently tried to use it. Now I'm logging in on my Mac. I can enter the new password and receive the verification code on my phone, but there's no place to enter it in iCloud. It says "An Apple ID verification code is required. Type your password followed by the verification code shown on your other devices." But there's nowhere to enter the code.

So stupid! What do I do?

What they mean is this...

All in one string >>> passwordverificationcode

Password is 1234567aB and code is 7654, you enter 1234567aB7654

The reason this is so complicated is that the solution, which I have found, is counter intuitive. I worked it out with Apple Support in Ireland. They did not know the answer, and because the system I am using is officially obsolete, they will not update their database. I am using 10.9.5 on a MacMini.

THIS IS THE SOLUTION

Enter your Apple ID password when requested.

Choose ALLOW from your other device.

A verification code will be generated on your other device. Note down this code.

When it tells you to enter your password and verification code on your Mac, there is a dialogue box saying OK.

You don't have to enter your password and the verification code into empty space.

CLICK OK, and nothing seems to happen.

THEN as if you are starting the whole process again, ONLY THEN enter your password AND the verification code all in one string with no spaces anywhere i.e. PASSWORD123456 (Where PASSWORD is your password and 123456 is your verification code).

Yes it is very frustrating, and I tried doing it a hundred ways first. It is counter intuitive because you use the passcode generated in your last sign in attempt in the NEXT attempt at logging in.

Good luck.

Here is what worked for me when I had the same problem. I opened settings>>>icloud and clicked the button to enter my password and did so. The verification was sent to my phone but there was no place to enter it with my password again. I closed out the window and reopened settings>>>icloud and clicked the enter password button again. I entered my password directly followed by the verification code that was sent and it worked!

As others have said, you have to enter your password and the verification code all in one string. Ex: if your password is Apple! and the verification code is 123456 then enter Apple!123456

Hey if any of you guys are still reading this, first thank you, this thread helped me not go crazy. And 2nd and most important I found out my “date and time” setting was set to set it yourself. If you check and it is, then changing it to “set automatically ” will fix your login problem!!!! I did this on my iPad that I couldn’t get to work and it’s back to normal :)

Bet it works the same if you need to get into your phone. I have Windows so I can’t say about your computer or not. I’m so annoyed I just wasted almost 2 hours and all I had to do was change the time

I have just had this really frustrating problem signing into a new (to me) iPad's app store. You need to go to the settings on the device that is primary, in my case, my iPhone and there will be an option to Update Apple ID Settings. From there you need to approve the new device and then when you try and sign in on the new device you'll need to put in your password and the verification code as others have stated.

Hi- I ended up repeating the process/started over (for the 5th time), only this time when I entered my password I added the verification code from

the previous attempt along with my password- as if it was the last 6 digits on my password. It worked. Apple definitely needs to update the process so that it doesn't leave you so open ended. Hope this makes sense and it works for you!

If you read the thread you would know that for older operating systems, you are not presented with the field to enter the password with the verification code appended. So, no matter how many times you want to post the solution for newer OS, it's not helping the people asking the question. Hence the reason so many of us came here for an answer.

Hello, I have the same problem. My HD crashed today, my Mac got reinstalled and now I cannot connect to App Store to download apps which I need for work. My iPad and iPhone are showing me Verification Codes, but my MacBook does not have any place where to enter them. As I enter my Apple ID Password, it continues showing "An Apple ID verification code is required to sign in. Type your password followed by the verification code shown on your other devices". What should I do in this case?User uploaded file

I have this problem with iCloud LACAllen...can you please help?...I have the message saying I need to add verification code after password. I then request the verification code (which is sent to my phone) but having hit 'OK' it doesn't then go back to the 'enter password and code' window so I have nothing to type the password and code into! Am I missing something? Thanks for any help with this 🙂
