No place to enter verification code in iCloud

Thanks Kath! I just got it to work. I would type in my password then the six digit verification code correctly, just like the directions say but a "field" wouldn't come up. When one did, it didn't accept the last verification code. I opened iCloud and my email and iTunes (different things that would need my iCloud password) so the next field that came available I typed in the password & verification code, then it all worked. Thank you

I never got this to work in system preferences because the password field disappeared and never returned while the SMS Code was valid. But...when i tried to log in to the App Store, the password field stayed active and I was able to enter the code.

Yup - exactly as posted many times over and over here

Password is 1234567aB and code is 7654, you enter 1234567aB7654

I FIGURED IT OUT!

"Type your password followed by the verification code shown on your other devices." Is the message you see. We insert it at the end of your password! ok duh we get this after a quick google. The answer to the question you are asking is this:

Exit the icloud preferences by clicking the go back Arrow (top left corner of pref. window), it will take you to System Preferences main menu, and then click the right arrow to go back into the icloud preference.

You now should have the ENTER PASSWORD field again instead of just the stupid message with no where to type.

Now,

Visit https://appleid.apple.com/ and sign in. You will receive a verification code on your secondary device.

Go back to icloud preferences and now insert your password followed by the verification code with no space in-between the two.

SO funny how people don't understand the question we are asking. You clearly said, there is no where to type and the guy tells you to type lol.

I've been having this issue for MONTHS and finally found your suggestion and it worked! Thank you.

For those that say it does not work I have the following suggestions based upon my own maddening experience.

1. Take a deep breath.

2. Start fresh, make sure that you don't have any stale verification codes from the 20 prior failed attempts.

3. Enter your password.

4. Wait for the verification code.

5. Retype your password and then the verification code right after it in the one and only box that does not let you see what you are typing.

I have this problem with iCloud LACAllen...can you please help?...I have the message saying I need to add verification code after password. I then request the verification code (which is sent to my phone) but having hit 'OK' it doesn't then go back to the 'enter password and code' window so I have nothing to type the password and code into! Am I missing something? Thanks for any help with this 🙂

i have the same problem, none of my other devices pop up to accept an apple id verification code (they all have had their apple id changed...but i cannot delete my account on this older iPad, without another device being able to...i am stuck in the middle of nowhere!

I did exactly that and got a message to the effect that there was an error and try again.

This all started when I changed my apple ID and password after the ISP service folded, but FaceTime keeps presenting the old ID when I try to sign in. I replace it with the new ID and password, then click Login. I then get sent the verification code on my iPhone, but there being no separate field in which to enter it, I then following the instructions and enter password followed by the verification code (which in this case is 6 digits), and .....see above. Sigh.

Would you prefer Apple stop supporting using 2FA with older apps and o/s's?

There is nothing to fix. Nothing to address. This workaround has been designed to provide support for older, legacy operating systems.

I think it's great you take the time to help people on this board, but your arrogance makes it hard to want to read your comments as everyone who came here with this problem is very frustrated. There IS something to fix here. When the message tells the user to re-enter the password with the verification code appended to the end of it, there should be a message telling to use left arrow then right arrow, or a new input box appear where to input the new concatenated password.

If your password is Apple! and your verification code is 123456, type Apple!123456 in the password field.

Your password followed by the verification code.

If you read the thread you would know that for older operating systems, you are not presented with the field to enter the password with the verification code appended. So, no matter how many times you want to post the solution for newer OS, it's not helping the people asking the question. Hence the reason so many of us came here for an answer.

I am in Settings and clicked on Password & Security. I get an error saying "Account Details Unavailable". There is a link to get verification code. WHen I click on it, it gives a 6 digit code and asks to enter the given code on my other device to sign in.

Did you try clicking the back arrow at the top left-hand side of the Sign in screen? That should take you back to the screen where you type in your Apple ID and password, and you would type in your password combined with the verification code at that point.
