How to resolve software glitches on 10.68 after 'tidying up'

In an effort to get back some much needed space on my hard drive, even though I thought I was being careful, i pitched a lot of stuff - now I am having problems with Safari and iWork'09.

Safari (v5.1.10) will only partially load.

Keynote (v5.1.1), Numbers (v2.1) and Pages (v4.1) would not work at all. Msg I rec'd was 'check with the developer to make sure these work with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for these apps and Mac OS X.' I deleted the non working apps and re-installed them from the original install disc, only to receive the same message.

HELP, PLEASE. How do I fix all of these - and I promise to never throw out stuff again!!!

Did you check every item in that Reset dialog? Quit Pages, and then launch again without the shift key depressed. Is Pages v5.1.10 now working?

What Internet Plug-ins are you loading via the Safari Help menu : Installed Plug-ins menu item?

Current (v23) Flash player updates require OS X 10.9 installed.

I highly recommend switching to the last Firefox update (48.0.1) for OS X 10.6.8 as it has years of security exploit fixes that are not present in Safari 5.1.10.

Now that your web site is up and running. . . . . . I am 99% sure you have identified what is causing the Safari 'glitches' - and I must admit to having caused it myself. The Flash Player version on (my Hard Drive) Safari 5.0.5 is 23.0.0.185!!! On my external backup is Safari v5.1.10 with Flash Player 16.0.0.235. I spent most of last evening looking for v16 to download and install (after I pitch v23) to no avail. Any suggestions to solve the F.P issue??? And, is v16xxxx the correct one to have for OS 10.6.8??

Restore your Adobe Flash 16.0.0.235 version from your external backup. Preferably, the same installer from the Downloads folder backed up on that external backup.

There are no newer versions of Adobe Flash that you can download from Adobe for Snow Leopard — so whether 16.0.0.235 is the most recent compatible with Snow Leopard is both unknown, and academic.
