iOS 10.1 Battery drain

Hello.

Updated my iPhone 5 to iOS10.1 and have been having battery problems.

1 - It jumps from 30% charge to 1% in a few seconds then shuts down.

Now here is the stranger part.

As soon as it reboots after connecting to a charger it show 30% charge. When I unplug it right away it still shows 30% and runs like nothing happened for a good few hours.

So it goes from zero charge to 30% in the time it takes to reboot? Strange.

2 - Shutting the phone down at night with a good 80% charge, it won't reboot in the morning due to no battery charge. I plug it in and its back to 30% in a few seconds.

Thanks for any suggestion in advance.

I've reset three times...this last time with NO apps except what comes with the phone...all of the settings set for maximum battery life...it still does NOT work...guess I'm just going to get a cheaper non-Apple phone even with having the cloud with other devices...there's just so long functioning adults can tell people "oh, my iPhone's messed up"...most of us need a working phone.

I am facing the same issue after updating ios10 and went to Apple service centre thrice, they formatted my phone and installed ios10 again there but nothing happened, next time they ran diagnostics and found no issue with the phone. And are just not owning up that this is because of ios10 update. And finally suggested me to pay about $375 or ₹25,000.00 to get my phone exchanged. And on top of it they said this is a strange issue never heard of this before... and here I see so many people reporting this issue... i hope they bring up a new ios update soon...

I'm now joining in on this one. iPhone 6 here. Awesome battery on iOS 9.3.5. Ever since upgrading to iOS 10 (versions don't matter for me), my battery is doing the exact same thing. Was on a call with 3 Apple techs. They all acknowledged the problem. Said it's been an on going issue with the way the OS communicates with the battery control module. To me this translates into an operating system that's going to ruin my battery. Supposedly there's an update coming in December that's supposed to include a fix for this issue. If not, I'll be downgrading to iOS 9.3.5 using iTunes. Really don't want to as I love the new features in iOS 10.

I have the exact same issue on my iPhone 6s running iOS 10.1.1.

I took it to the Apple Store and they said the battery condition was fine, but they could see irregularities in TVs battery drain profile.

Sometimes the phone cuts out wth 16%... or 30% battery remaining, other times it jumps 10% less charge at a time.

I did as suggested by Apple to factory reset and it still had the same issue.

I have now downgraded to iOS 10.1 to see if this corrects the irregular battery drain.

I hope that the update does fix it. I laid the phone down last night with 94% charge, no apps running. This morning the battery shows red, and won't turn on. This is an exchange iPhone 5 - the first one had the battery swollen up big time. I have it on the charger, and it does get slightly warm - and it's up to 15% in twenty minutes. This never happened with this iPhone before the update.

This policy Apple has of never accepting problems with their products is stupid...they are losing customers because of it...thank God I only have a iPhone 6s from work...it had the battery problems but a clean wipe somehow saved me...but my wife's iPhone 7 was not so lucky...neither is her iPad pro 12 inch and our shared iPad air 2...all are having battery issues...I don't understand how a device with 30℅ battery power can shut off immediately and then when you go to plug it in, it shows 0℅...no doubt the current version of iOS is damaging batteries by over charging because calibration is all screwed up now...most people probably don't know how much battery charge is even in their devices anymore.
