My iphone 6 battery life has been sub optimal (despite support testing and telling me it is fine) this past week since opening the case with Apple. Tonight (6 days from the last documented incident) my phone went from 50% to 20% low power warning to off...in matter of about 10 seconds. I couldn't even do a hard reset before it shut off with the dead battery/lightning bolt charge indicator.
At the time I was in a store and trying to respond to a text about an item I was supposed to pick up. I had to go back to the car (14 degrees F outside) to charge. As soon as I plugged in, the phone powered up and was at 50% again. I waited about 30 seconds and went back into the store. The phone was fine for 20 minutes while I walked around and then went to the register.
Unfortunately, at this point I will be reading reviews of Android phones and switching. It is a safety issue. If my car had not started, my phone would have also been dead. An expensive phone like this shouldn't require that I tote an emergency battery with me everywhere so I can wake it from the dead when the battery *really* has a 50% charge.
I'd be a bit more patient of Apple acknowledged the problem and said they are working on it. Since they are denying it completely...I've got no good will here. I've stuck with Apple since the 3g even when my colleagues would josh me for not choosing android which is a more "techie" oriented device. My answer has always been Apple's rock solid software and reliability beats their phone hands down. Looks like I am eating crow now...
