Unable to access some websites except through an anonymizer proxy

I have a 2008 iMac, OSX 10.9.5, 3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3

Everything has been running fine till recently.

In the past few weeks I have had trouble accessing or browsing some websites.

However, if I go through an anonymizer proxy web site, I can browse all previously unaccessible websites.

Anyone know what is going on?

TIA

It is not a managed network.

I have 5 Wi-Fi routers located 1 per floor in a 5 floor residential building.

4 routers are from the same provider one of which is the trouble router. The 5th router is from a different provider.

Computers on any given floor can see at least 2 routers.

Thing is that this problem only started about a month or so ago.

The trouble is only between my iMac and this 1 particular router.

If I connect my iMac to an alternative router, my iMac works fine and I can browse all websites.

Likewise, if I connect my windows laptop to the same trouble router, I can browse the 2 websites that my iMac cannot browse.

Frustrated and confused

I understand, but if you do not own or control the routers you are using then your ability to fix the problem will be limited.

Most likely, the router you are using is running outdated firmware. It should be reset and reconfigured, or upgraded to run newer firmware, or replaced.

Convince whoever manages those routers to swap the problematic one with another in the same building that work, thereby moving the complaint from you to someone else. That's all I can suggest.
