iTunes 12.5.3 crashes constantly on macOS Sierra

I've updated iTunes to 12.5.3 on macOS Sierra this morning, and now it crashes constantly. If I try to update or add to the iCloud Music Library, the application simply closes completely. When I reopen, the library is not updated. I tried restarting and reinstalling, without success. Anybody else has this problem? Is it a general issue with the new update?

I have the same issue, iTunes 12.5.3.16.

I was adding songs and chaning artwork to other old songs.

iTunes started to crash.

I start again, and I see new songs duplicated but not uploaded on iCloud.

I start to sync iCloud music library and iTunes crashes when upload songs.

I don't know what to do. I logged of and log in again, but with no good result.

Hi rvdmost,

That is the primary problem that triggers the crash, iTunes 12.5.3 will crash every time you add an item to your library and it tries to update your iCloud Music Library. You can suppress this crash by signing out of your iTunes account but as soon as you sign-in to iTunes again it'll crash.

Until Apple releases a fix the only known workaround is to downgrade to iTunes 12.5.2.

You can downgrade iTunes by following the steps at Re: my iTunes keeps quitting after the latest update

Let us know how you get on.

I had the same issue as well, after downloading a song from a website and adding it to my library, I wanted to add it to my iCloud Music Library so I could listen to it on my phone as well. However, the application kept crashing and I was unsure why. After reading some other comments related to this issue, I decided that I would do some experimentation on my own and found that changing the title of the song (as it may have contained some invalid characters or something of the sort) and removing the artwork resolved the issue. I'm not sure whether it is the combination of the two that caused the issue as I did both of these steps at the same time, but hopefully this helps.
