Any chance to get simple SMS delivery report to work on iPhone 6s iOS 10.1.1?
I searched for it in all kind of settings and forums but all I see is the option for iMessage
but not for SMS. The most basic phones have it for decades now but what about iPhones?

it really depends where you live and on the carrier. One can't safely assume on many reasons...the destination number was offline for more than 24h and so it won't be delivered in Brazil but in Germany it would fail only after 7 days. And in many regions of this planet you can't rely on anything unless it's confirmed.
that's why I sad my bad about the US market...but that is just one country, where others presume this just to work out of the box being in any European or South American country.
What about typing *0# before the message to get delivery report?
Is it feature of all other devices?

Many phones do not have this feature.
Hmm, I had got delivery messages for many years on different phones until I got an iPhone :-(
