AIM connection error occurred. The server message was: Conn:StartupFailure

Help!! The problems started with the inability to do video chat, then all of a sudden I cannot log on with any of my AIM accounts (.mac and AOL). I keep getting this message. I've searched on this forum and tried all the port changes, turned firewall off, repaired permissions, deleated kechain info and re-entered my account info. Any help would be greatly appreciated. iChat was working perfectly. I have no idea.
thanks!

Hi Macperk,

That looks like there is an Airport device in there somewhere.

Can you confirm that there is ?
Using the Airport Admin Utility and checking the Network tab can you confirm it is still doing NAT and DHCP (Distributing Addresses) ?

It looks like the modem is also doing NAT as there is a difference in the ports on the public IP and the LAN IP.

Hi Ralph, (who by the way i neglected to thank for your help/input, so THANKS!)
You are correct, I have an airport extreme base station hooked up to my modem. My G5 is hardwired (thru hub) to the extreme. There is also an airprot express in WDS mode to cover the other wing (read small kitchen with old plaster walls and lots of interference) of the house : )

Yes, the base station has NAT inabled and as well as DHCP. Should I turn off the NAT on the base station and let the modem do this? suggestions appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi macperk,

If the modem gives out IP addresses (DHCP) and is port forwarded to the Airport - then the NAT and DHCP (Distributing Addresses) can be disabled in the Airport.

Yes, to answer the question.

Only use one device doing DHCP and iChat prefers only one device doing any form of NAT.

The Airport Device becomes a Wireless Access Point when Distributing Addresses is turned off.
