Unknown error 8392

MacBook Air running Sierra 10.12.1, iTunes 12.5.3.17

Open Apps/ Updates

I try to update an individual App and it fails immediately with "Unknown error 8392"

I attempt a couple more times and it updates!

This was the case on the previous level of iTunes as well.

MacBook Air (11-inch Late 2010), macOS Sierra (10.12.1)

One workaround for the moment - although not ideal - is that I am having no trouble downloading apps - only updating apps. You can:

1. Delete the app in iTunes

2. Redownload the app in iTunes

3. Sync your iOS device

This will install the updated version on your iOS device and preserve all your user data for the app.

You could obviously also delete the app on the iOS device altogether and then reinstall but depending on the app you may lose some stuff. The above avoids this.

Is everyone experience this issue in Australia?

I had this problem before, then it seems to resolve itself. Now it's back. I have to try and try and try and try until it suddenly succeeds. I can't "update all" so it is quite a tedious process, as the "workaround" would be (deleting the app, then downloading it again). The error message says the problem is with the iTunes store, and "please try again later". Once it said there was a connection problem, but only that one time (so far).

Me too - since updating to IOS10.1. Cannot update apps except by deleting and reinstalling them. Plug ipad into computer and update via itunes and get unknown error 8392. Resetting ipad etc doesnt help.

Tried contacting apple support and got a message stating my apad air is outside warranty and they will charge me to talk with them.

It looks like apple are now in the mode of releasing software full of bugs and not providing any support. Might be time to start looking at Android for my next device.

This is a wide spread issue in the USA and Cananda on a variety of machines. I have a Macmini 2014 and a Acer desktop both have the issue.I also know of at least four others. In fact I only know of 1 user who does not have the issue.

The only work around is to delete and re download the app.

Thanks

Although I have only experienced this on my iMAC and My MacBook Air the workaround I have been using is to just keep hitting the update button one app at a time. Sometimes it goes on second attempt,,,,, sometimes it goes on 10th attempt. I have not experienced this on my iPhone or my iPad,,,,,, yet

My iphone has 8 updates that refuse to complete, so I tried updating at my iMac and thats when I discovered this error message. THeres something going on with the update server. Apple will stay quiet for days and all of a sudden it will resolve. At least that's they it's gone in the past.

Signing out than back in doesn't help, nor does restarting.

I can't even download the Quicken app for Quicken 2017 that I had to upgrade to (I was on 2007) in order to upgrade Sierra (yesterday) 10.12.1, which has been a nightmare (in a production environment). Mac Mini I bought in January of last year, iTunes 12.5.3.17. Can't update on my devices, either - and iOS has been updated on them, too.

Apple user since 1983. So disappointed in them right now. Several calls to Apple, including one where the call got disconnected. This is not the Apple experience I'm used to.
