I have no volume controls on my headphones and I'm experiencing the same issues. How do I fix that?
Ysabell you are a life saver. This method of plugging in the headphones and then pressing up and down volume on the headset wire worked for me and removed the clicking.
Once again somebody has phantom powered no volume controled headphones. This persons who is me is paying around 700 for this phone. Can I get a fix?

It does work. I spammed the volume up down pause play button for 10 seconds and it stopped. Should be something with the "something" in the earpgone
Works 100 % ! Just got a new adapter, was using samsung headphones from my Samsung Galaxy S4, the clicking sound happened, tried this solution and it worked like a charm. Thank you !
I have the same issue. I also use the wired controller to kill off that popping noise. Sad

I had exactly same problem with Bose QC20 and the hack works well.
However volume control buttons not working to me after :(

Omg it works! You’re a lifesaver! I bought a new cable thinking it was my old cable being faulty and I almost wasted my new JAYS 😭
The other issue is that once you do that the Volume buttons of the headphones do not work
I have a PS4 headset I bought today with a 3.5mm connector and it still skips when I twist it in the IPhone 7plus adaptor.
I have the same problem with samsung handsfree, and the clicking sound is solved my the volume bottom. But still the mic doesnt work!! How can i fix this
