Apple Watch Series 2 Microphone Not Working

Hey,

I have recently bought the Apple Watch Series 2 and I decided to go for a swim. When I got out of the water, I realized that microphone stopped working. I decided to charge it and let it dry overnight, but no luck. Should I wait longer or is there a problem?

Thanks so much,

Jonah.

1) Is this a know issue?

I'm curious to hear if this is common after swimming.

2) has anyone had their fixed or replaced yet? Has it happened again?

I used my series 2 in the pool with my 2-yr old son twice (just splashing around in waist deep water) and now the microphone doesn't work (so NO SIRI). I'm planning on returning mine if this doesn't resolve itself. I don't think I want to own one if I can't trust the claims Apple has made about its water resistance.

1- It's not really THAT common, the only place I heard or read about it is in this thread. But yes, all people explained the exact same problem; swimming --> no mic. I left mine about 4 days before actually visiting the Apple store, so no I don't think it will resolve itself.

2- Yes I got my Watch replaced about 5 days after visiting the Genius bar (check my last comment for the date), and they actually let me keep my current watch until they got the replacement unit unlike the other person that commented above. I did not try to swim with the new one yet, and I probably won't. I don't trust the water resistance anymore. But they confirmed to me that they would replace again if this happened again anyways.

My microphone has not been working now for about 5 days (since it was last in the pool). As I'm waiting for an opportunity to go to a genius bar, I had another swimming opportunity today. I figured, it's already not working, so why not at least use it in the pool anyway. Well after I got out of the pool, and ejected water from the speaker, the microphone was working again. This seems really bizarre to me. But it's working.

I have 42mm Apple Nike+ Series 2 watch and suddenly yesterday the mic stop working. I purchased this watch 11/3/16 and never have gone swimming with it on. I have rinsed it off after sweaty workouts with it on the water lock on each time. I went to the Apple Store and unpaired it and set up as new and the mic still didn't work. The disappoinning part is they have shipped it off to their repair shop in PA. I explained that I do not want a refurbished watch considering that I have only had this watch for 55 days. This is truly disappointing and it is starting to sound like their is a water resistance problem with the Series 2!

I had this issue as well and tried everything from impairing and repairing to erasing all settings and setting up the watch as new. Nothing worked.

However, when I took a can of compressed air and shot it into the openings on the side of the watch it cleared debris from the openings and, to my disbelief, the microphone immediately started working. Give this a shot, sounds like there is something that is blocking the mic or the mic is not operating correctly and needs repair.

Apple advises that compressed air should not be used when cleaning Apple Watch:
